We just can't catch a break, can we? The EU Kids Act is nightmare fuel, if you look beneath the honorable surface claim of "protecting kids online". The breakdown: www.youtube.com/watc... #StopKillingGames #StopKillingTheInternet

Somewhat rough first attempt drawing up an alien that honestly needs a bit of a do-over. #ttrpgart #illustration #characterillustration

A bug eyed humanoid alien with a red, white and cyan dress style. Has a trunk appendage extending from the back of their head over their shoulder.

Art - made to player specification - for a one off game of Tactical Waifu. Yes it was very silly. Yes all the clichés made an appearance. #TTRPG #anime #TTRPGart

Four cliché anime girls including one who is purple (not an alien) with swords, one who's a yandere with a violin, a tsundere with a spas 12 guage and a Hinedere who is totally not a demon masquerading as human.

100,000 trans people & allies fill central London for Trans Pride. Mainstream media: nothing Thousands of trans people & allies fill Wembley Arena for pro-trans gig with massive names like Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Sugarbabes. Mainstream media: nothing. This is what extreme media bias looks like.

As a longtime series fan gotta say that TimeSplitters Rewind (early access) is kind of incredible. It's a free fan game and yet so much time & care has clearly been put into capturing the look and feel of the originals, while distilling the best elements into a modernised package. A great start.

Boycott Krafton. One wretched decision after another and now this? We have to start sending clearer messages to companies like them. They deserve consequences.

Halloween Horror #13 – No, I’m not a Human A powerfully disturbing rumination on what we lost at the start of this decade. Imposter horror is common enough, but what makes this stick is how bizarrely the characters are drawn juxtaposed against the strange empathy I kept feeling for them.

A warped, half naked man grins on the doorstep of the viewer.

Halloween Horror #11 & #12 – Vampire Hunter D (1985) & Bloodlust (2000) Vampire Western fusions with some amusing Baroque sci-fi on the side. The Vampire Hunter D films are a super fun time, the sequel in particular slam dunking some of my favourite ever gothic visuals in animation.

A screenshot of the title vampire hunter silhouetted against the sunset and another of him leaping on top of a carriage, cape blowing out behind him.

Halloween Horror #10 – The Hitcher (1986) Appealed off the back of watching The Terminator again and Dust Devil. I figured I’d make it a trilogy of ‘relentless pursuer’ movies this year. A simple premise made extremely powerful through clever direction and strong performances, particularly Hauer.

Rutger Hauer's hitcher stares out of a car window with a cigarette in his mouth and a raised handgun.

#Halloween Horror #9 - Silent Hill f (2025) Played blind so no idea how this one has gone down with others, but I really liked the radically different setup, locale and themes of this one compared to the rest of the series. A memorable departure with more openly grisly elements than previous SH.

A girl stands alone in the middle distance of a hil covered in fog.

#Halloween Horror #8 – The Terminator (1984) Seminal to the point it needs no introduction. A stripped down movie with horror elements that have since diminished to non-existence in James Cameron’s work. Plus, a much more foreboding ending than its sequel that seems more credible now then ever.

The skeletal metal form of a Terminator stands amid flames.

#Halloween Horror #7 – The Toxic Avenger (2023) A fun, largely goofy time here, with cartoonish gruesome moments and dialogue which – while not quite laugh out loud hilarious – is chuckle worthy throughout. Absurd but simultaneously retains lots of heart.

#Halloween Horror #6 – Dust Devil: The Final Cut (1992) A snapshot of a nascent cult cinema treasure whose wings were clipped before they could truly spread. A Supernatural Horror Western, which - like Richard Stanley's previous film Hardware - has more going on than might initially be apparent.

A man in a long duster and hat stand by the highway in the South African desert, hailing a ride. It's very orange.

Halloween Horror #5 – Alien Covenant (2017) Having not seen it until now - following my general disappointment with Prometheus - I was actually pleasantly/unpleasantly surprised by this one. A stronger focus on horror and substantially better script go a long way. Decent albeit quite mean spirited.

Halloween Horror #3 & 4 – Alien: Resurrection (1997) & Prometheus (2012) Neither of these are particularly well loved by the Alien fanbase for very different reasons. Resurrection is far too goofy, but has fun moments I feel. Perhaps not a great Alien film, but a guilty pleasure for sure.

#Halloween Horror #2 – Alien Earth (2025) All told, pretty good. Making it more about the corporation-centric world the xenomorph inhabits and more SF drama than horror, it breaks new ground for Alien. Slightly clumsy and clearly sequel baiting but a decent start with strong turns from the cast.

A stern faced man stood in the MU/TH/UR computer room filled with hundreds of small lights.

#Halloween Horror #1 – Hardware (1990) Starting early this year with an undervalued film. It's visually powerful, relentlessly bleak and disturbingly resonant in the face of a very real killer robot future we now inhabit. A solid downbeat alternative to Terminator with a banging soundtrack.

A poster/cover for the movie Hardware, featuring an IR visual of a human face caught in crosshairs.

This is a beautiful tribute.

kyle_maclachlan Forty-two years ago, for reasons beyond my comprehension, David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big budget movie. He clearly saw something in me that even I didn't recognize. I owe my entire career, and life really, to his vision.
What I saw in him was an enigmatic and intuitive man with a creative ocean bursting forth inside of him. He was in touch with something the rest of us wish we could get to.
Our friendship blossomed on Blue Velvet and then Twin Peaks and I always found him to be the most authentically alive person I'd ever met.
David was in tune with the universe and his own imagination on a level that seemed to be the best version of human. He was not interested in answers because he understood that questions are the drive that make us who we are. They are our breath.
While the world has lost a remarkable artist, l've lost a dear friend who imagined a future for me and allowed me to travel in worlds I could never have conceived on my own.
I can see him now, standing up to greet me in his backyard, with a warm smile and big hug and that Great Plains honk of a voice. We'd talk coffee, the joy of the unexpected, the beauty of the world, and laugh.
His love for me and mine for him came out of the cosmic fate of two people who saw the best things about themselves in each other.
I will miss him more than the limits of my language can tell and my heart can bear. My world is that much fuller because I knew him and that much emptier now that he's gone.
David, I remain forever changed, and forever your Kale. Thank you for everything.

Slowly building up a SF Tabletop RPG of my own which may or may not see some kind of release someday. Tested a six-episode scenario; lots to like but I've taken my humble pie on feedback and begun reworking much of it. It's a demanding but exciting journey to see systems gradually fall into place.
