Naturally it would feature Manchester Town Hall, Central Library, off-brand Zippy and probably Pat Karney.

It's October so inevitably people are having some fun with their profiles. But perhaps choosing either a change of avatar OR name rather than both would help us keep track of who's who?

Of however many Cheshire MPs, why does the endlessly transgressive Reform MP get to add her ten penn'orth to this story?

Absolutely. It's a horrible mix of political gamesmanship and motornormativity.

I've reached 2,000 followers! Time for some news. I will soon be starting my first professional role in the transport sector. It's been a long journey but it's finally happening, and I am very excited. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!

This is where Waltham Forest has done so well - their permanent filters are really nicely designed and built.

It need to be both! That's the tricky thing when there's limited funding - prioritisation is a bugger.

I'm probably overlooking the wins because the failure in GM was total and dramatic.

today's good news is the new bus service from Carmarthen to Bangor will be about 40 min faster to Aberystwyth, AND you'll be able to take a bike on the bus. Joined-up public transport? in this economy? & then from Aber you can get a train to Liverpool & beyond. Halefwcinlŵlia

LTNs are deemed politically toxic elsewhere in the country, but Waltham Forest is just carrying on and making life better for everyone.

Horrible to read about another road death local to me, and then to take a look at the road layout and see how it's designed with little thought for pedestrians.

if I had a pound for every time some idiot councillor said "let cyclists use the park!" and the cyclists went "it's not safe, it doesn't provide useful routes, it bakes in conflict with pedestrians, and your parks close at 4pm in the winter, you muppet," i wouldn't be sat here about to go to work.

Ever since The Mill wrote an article on Educate and Empower, the fundraisers in navy jackets who people on Reddit often accuse of being a scam, there's one question we've been itching to know: what's been happening inside their office since we published?

Not long after graduation I naively applied for a job that turned out to be like this. A rare instance of my dad agreeing with my work choices (in this case, leaving after 30 minutes).

I will admit that I am currently obsessed with the new Quiet Lane & Rectory Farm. Several joggers and cyclists using it, and speaking to someone at the farm apparently parent & child from the village using it to learn to ride a bike yesterday 😍. Also Rectory Farm’s pumpkin patch is amazing! (1/2)

Owler Nook @owlernook.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Just to make my point as Bluesky-clear as I can: the 20mph speed changes are good news and the reduction in KSIs is amazing. But bad charts are misleading, and should not be employed under any circumstances because they undermine the argument.

That scale is very naughty, though. It should look more like this.

First Street is a very accessible location for public transport, too. Deansgate and Oxford Road Railway Stations sit on the adjacent railway viaduct, and Deansgate-Castlefield Tram Stop is just over the road. And that's before we mention the Oxford Road bus corridor - one of the busiest in Europe.

With Burnham now moving to First Street, cycling options become a lot better. There are already plans for a cycleway between Deansgate and Piccadilly Station, along Whitworth St, with the first phase complete. A new Cyclops junction and protected cycle track on Medlock St recently hit planning.

I inspected a lot of building plans and it's astonishing just how ridiculous architects can get with bike parking when not scrutinised. Steep stairs, switch backs, multiple doors, vertical racks, little aisle space. One might wonder if many British architects have ever seen a bike much less a trike.
