If, hypothetically, someone was going to Dublin for a few days at the end of the month, what C20 buildings are worth visiting? #c20architecture #architecture

One of my favorite buildings in Los Angeles: Lincoln Heights LADWP Building (1937), designed by S. Charles Lee
A one-story Art Deco building. The facade is mostly a mix of clear and opaque glass. The glass is bookended on both sides by stepped back green walls. Above the entrance is a sign that reads “MUNICIPAL LIGHT WATER POWER” in green glass.

Arts & Social Studies Library, Cardiff Faulkner-Brown Hendy Watkinson Stonor 1972-76 Found it quite hard to find anything online about this library - not even featured in the practice's own online archive! I'd love to know more about the design if anyone on here knows anything. #architecture

#101: Hans Mirbach and Joachim Pries, St. Josef, Münster-Gelmer (1982-83)
A brown brick building. The entrance is at a corner and there's a sharp vertical cut marking it; jagged gable roofs intersect in many directions, and it's a dynamic composition. Photo from Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Handorf, https://www.zionskirche.com/b/evangelisch-in-gelmer-35689892The interior of the church, with the altar at another corner. A vertical window is cut in the wall behind the altar, which is raised by a few steps. The gabled wooden roof slopes down sharply either side of the altar. Photo by Johannes Bernard via https://www.kirche-und-leben.de/artikel/kirche-st-josef-in-muenster-gelmer-vor-der-schliessungAn oblique view of the exterior, showing the jagged roofline and the fact that the church is part of a large 'church center" including a kindergarten etc. Photo by Johannes Bernard via https://www.kirche-und-leben.de/artikel/kirche-st-josef-in-muenster-gelmer-vor-der-schliessungA view across the main square to the church, showing Gelmer residents trying to come up with ways to save the church, which is under trheat due to shrinking congregation and over one million euros cost to repair the leaking roof. ‼️Anyone currently studying architecture should take advantage of this short Passivhaus course! I took it last year and definitely came in handy when I got to work on a Passivhaus on placement. #architecturestudent #architecture

Never forget, it doesn’t take much to add some smiles and surprises to your city. Just a civic culture of fun and creativity, or at least a culture of not getting in the way of fun and creativity. Is that YOUR city? More of this. #CityOfSmiles #FunCity

Did you know there is a commemorative manhole cover in Whitechapel celebrating the defeat of the 2017 fatberg? To find it: head west out of the station along the north side of the High Street, it's by the pedestrian crossing in-line with the far end of the hospital opposite. w3w bond/fame/agents

There is bunch of people on this worksite, a massively expensive truck and a forklift. And!!!! There’s no mortar being laid between these blocks. The Emperor‘s new clothes aren’t invisible, they just made of cement and marketing.

#66: Gottfried Böhm, St. Matthew, Düsseldorf-Garath (1968-70)
A brick and concrete church. The main mass is of CIP concrete with swathes of the exterior painted red. The entrance is at the round corner tower of a brick wing. The structure is irregular and varied. Photo by Wiegels via Wikimedia Commons. The roof landscape of St. Matthew. There are a number of orthogonal concrete towers in the front wiht large windows. Behind that is a pointed, irregular grayish metal-panel roof; and to the right are small areas of brick. Photo by Wiegels via Wikimedia Commons. Interior showing a rounded brick tower that looks like a chimney. The ceiling is of concrete with swathes painted red. Just out of shot to the right is the altar.
