Paracrine stimulation of brown adipose tissue vascularization by adipocyte O-GlcNAc signaling
Brown adipose tissue is extensively vascularized, which is essential for its physiological activities. Li et al. show that nutrient/stress-sensing O-GlcNAc signaling in brown adipocytes dynamically adapts to environmental stimuli to stimulate brown adipose tissue vascularization and thermogenesis via a KCP-mediated paracrine mechanism.

Time-resolved multiomics profiling reveals chromatin O-GlcNAc modification promotes senescence-associated transcriptional program
Nature Communications, Published online: 08 January 2026; doi:10.1038/s41467-025-68143-zO-GlcNAc chromatin modifications dynamically reshape the transcriptional program of oncogene-induced senescence, forming complexes that activate SASP genes and repress cell-cycle genes; JUN and GATAD2A are identified as key regulators.

A new report finds that a majority of Americans think the U.S. should be a world leader in science, but Democrats increasingly believe other countries are catching up. Check out the numbers below and learn more in the story here: www.scientificamerican.com/article/amer...
Stacked bar charts show percentages of survey respondents who said the U.S. was gaining ground, staying in about the same place or losing ground when it came to scientific achievement compared with other countries. As of October 2025, the data for all respondents was 13 percent gaining ground, 38 percent staying in about the same place, 47 percent losing. Among Republicans, the breakdown was 19 percent gaining, 49 percent staying put, and 32 percent losing. Among Democrats, the breakdown was 9 percent gaining, 25 percent staying put, and 65 percent losing.
