The 'Thanos was right' proclaimants seem to think that indignantly acknowledging a problem is reason enough to appoint one's self as arbiter and executioner of a solution. Thanos may have been right, but he didn't have THE right to do what he did. There's no justification for his actions.

It becomes the first epic team-up of the 'hot', new comic book movie era (some might say the last). It's too bad the film's roster doesn't hold up to the line-up in the comic. Only 11 of the characters shown on this foldout cover had made it to the screen in time to appear in live action.

Just to set the mood, the film starts with Thanos' offscreen defeat of Thor followed by the on-screen, 43-second ass-beating he gave Hulk. And they are the Avengers' two strongest members. After them, comes Wanda and Iron Man. All respects due, my friends. But no. You guys are gonna need help.

MCU Rewatch 019 (ahead of Doomsday): It's demoralizing. The damn thing is sopping with defeat and loss and death. What a way to end the series. At least, that's what we were all led to believe. Marvel's decision to keep this film's sequel a secret made me and my sons queasy.

In the end, the film's greatest accomplishment is exposing the weakness of a monarchy. Just because one born to a family doesn't entitle them the right to rule over others. Killmonger's exploitation of Wakanda's overeliance on ancient traditions nearly ended their world as it is known.

Unpopular Opinion 1,752: As much as I love watching my home team, I hate seeing this. Kid, I know it sucks. Falling in love with a sports team can be a heartbreaking experience. For me, I just try to focus on the quality of the playing over the outcome. I sleep better. We'll see you next season.

We also see what is supposed to be longtime Marvel bad guy, Klaw. Only this movie's version is a pale reflection of the comics. Klaw is a scientist who transformed himself in solidified sound. And he's a badass, seen fighting the Fantastic Four all by himself. In the movie, he's just some scumbag.

And then, there's Killmonger. Michael B. Jordan's scenes are magnificent. He delivers Killmonger's sentiments perfectly. He is intriguing, cunning, and ruthless with relatable motives. Probably going down in history as one the greatest screen villains of all time.

MCU Rewatch 018 (ahead of Doomsday): Sigh. Chadwick Boseman's second of just four appearances as Black Panther. His understanding of the character, his reactions, his presence, his assuredness... it seduces the eye. And brings tears.

I forgive the film's flaws by appreciating its virtues. It gives a talking Hulk. We finally hear his poor vocabulary and childlike intellect. That's Hulk. And this is the ONLY FUCKING TIME we see him this way.

Most of the blame for dislike of the film gets pointed at Taika Waititi. But I saw this after I saw Jo Jo Rabbit, which is mostly seen as brilliant. It also handles a serious subject with a combination of high degrees of both hilarity and tragedy. I guess you have to get his humor to hang with this.
