This sums it up neatly. there have been no noteworthy AI written stories, and a lot of scams and bs which have made it harder for human-written good stories to get out there.

As it is in fact another Bandcamp Friday (in which Bandcamp doesn't charge artists any fees for album sales) I would like to humbly propose that, if you're looking to buy a record today, you consider my band's debut album secondhomes.bandcamp.com/album/find-a...

If you just happened to pick this week to start yelling about the importance of academic freedom, I sure hope you did more than watch silently for the past 18 months as the Trump administration assaulted everything from mRNA vaccine research to gender studies to the very idea of having universities.

So people are believing the story about the harms of social media over the evidence from their own experiences… Cheeky self promotion- i wrote a podcast episode about this bsky.app/profile/ours...

Another example of how the narratives around teens social media use bear little resemblance to reality… but that a lot of people are buying the narrative

Saw a post where someone was excited about how many books they had read so far this year, and people were dunking all over them because it was a low number by their standards. Just, ew. Don't be like this. Who cares if you've read 150 books or 1. Read what you want when you want. Just read! 📚💙

Fantastic episode about the intentional stories told through these rugs, and the role the buyers tastes play in the market. Also, how the designs variation over time tell us an unintended story about how they may have been made And fantastic audio from @gotitatguineys.bsky.social as always

This is how you legitimise and manufacture consent and legitimacy for the far-right. It is also how you inevitably create space for credulity-straining pieces shortly after initiation of mass-deportation programmes in which regular voters express shock at the extent and severity of said programme.

There are few books i have started and not finished- two are on this list. I get the desire to understand the cultural context (it’s one of the things my podcast is about) but life is too short to read everything Of the few here i have read try The Metamorphosis if you haven’t already read it

I spent some time going through videos and interviews with London residents who were displaced by the Olympics in 2012 for this episode and in response the general consensus from anyone in power was: Fuck off, leave me alone, the opening ceremony was brilliant, stop complaining.

This is a sentiment you hear a lot from now-elderly people who grew up without a lot of material comforts. Their perceptual and material worlds were pretty well aligned! Now we basically all live in the perceptual world of the wealthy. It’s hard to imagine anyone not knowing what they don’t have.

I was recently advised to write long titles for each podcast episode full of all the relevant search terms 😅 i understand why but it looks so clunky- much worse for books Imagine the cover if the title of Painted People included titles of each part 😵‍💫

I mean it is but i don’t pass myself off as an expert 🤣 More seriously there does seem to be a story that an expert in one sort of science can do other sorts of science as well as economics, history and sociology … it’s a dangerous narrative that led to covid vaccine denial among many other things

Boycotts are necessary! Big protests are necessary! Economic blackouts are necessary! Workers calling out sick or taking time off to support these causes is necessary! Mutual aid is BEYOND necessary! But they are not strikes.
