Yes. I'm a nerd so I do want more 'historically accurate' movies but mostly I think some accuracy would be a great starting point for actual new ideas about representing the past. But filmmakers act like it's been done before (it really hasn't!) and their tired clichés are a fresh new take somehow.

I've been tracking the NLRB filing for the new Arena Union (UWOTC-CWA) since they announced on Monday. The devs gave Hasbro until this Friday (International workers day) to voluntarily recognize them.
In response, Hasbro hired a well known union busting firm Fisher Phillips, to oversee this debacle.
WoTC also responded to the news with this statement which is riddled with anti union wording (in my opinion) such as the "we are a family" vibe and also "direct relationship with our employees"
Hopefully, Hasbro/WoTC is just using this firm as a "how to not screw everything up" instead of actually attempting to fight the imminent union.
Anyways, please support your devs in their efforts to unionize.

I still see too many users here unaware of this, and it's why we are never getting things like soft-blocking, restricted/locked accounts, or circles (and if we do, you shouldn't trust them). Treat EVERYTHING you do on here INCLUDING DMs as though it is fully public (because it is!)

Also the most important concept arts are not flashy illustrations, they're 5mn sketches on the corner of a napkin to clarify very specific visual design questions (like how the asset should fit level design metrics, or signal a clear call to action). But that's a problem older than genAI...

And as a game artist, gAI for placeholders is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I've seen lead artists spend afternoons sorting hundreds of genAI results rather than 5mn to put a bright pink box in. It's not even about productivity, just top management pushing the thing they were told to invest in.

I've said for years now that a specific toxic creative director's actual contribution to their project could just as well have been done with a random prompt generator (not ai prompts, just good old websites that mash words or fantasy names together to get you out of blank page).

Even on a more practical level, scientists typically want to run machine learning to sort through vast amounts of data, and only their data. The packages sold by AI companies involve training on untold amounts of (stolen) unspecified data that just make them unreliable for science. Different beasts.

Machine learning was being used in science before tech bro losers decided LLMs was going to be their next scam (after the utter travesty that was NFTs). AI is a marketing ploy and financial bubble threatening to cause a major economic crash. Machine learning and AI should not be lumped together.

This is also my hill to die on. I'm a former gifted kid with most of my family in teaching related jobs. I went to art school and work in a field where people can often lament being bad at drawing. It always makes me sad they seem to think it's a inate trait and not a skill to learn if they want to.

Got the same issue when drawing on my tablet. I guess it's the OLED screen being very vibrant. Kinda hurts my digital painting training. Color is hard enough as it is, and even harder if I have to compensate for what it might look like on a regular screen. But I say you did a great job either way :)

Il y a plein d'artistes et illustrateurs à Mtp qui auraient fait un chouette boulot qui représente vraiment les montpelliérain.es. Il n'y a pas de bonne raison d'utiliser un outil qui détruit le droit d'auteur ainsi que la planète. Il faut juste avoir un peu de respect pour le travail des artistes.
