Screenshot: Out of ten men, one makes a sexual joke at a woman, two laugh, three fake a chuckle to fit in, and four stay silent.

None of them speak up. Later, nine of them still believe they're the "good guys." But from the woman's perspective, the laughter, the silence, the looking away, it all creates the same environment. So when women say "most men are the same." this is what they mean: not that every man harasses women, but that most men help protect the system that does.

social media is a nightmare these days, but i just need to say: the way you talk about strangers’ experiences of sexual assault tells the survivors in your real life whether or not you can be trusted with their stories and their safety. and there *are* survivors in your life, so don’t fuck it up.

And why do green card holders think it could be legal to vote? Because in many (most?) countries that’s the norm. As a permanent resident, you have most of the rights of a citizen.

This aligns exactly with what we know about noncitizen voting; it is extremely rare (9 noncitizen votes in MN out of 3,253,920 in the 2024 election, or 0.0002%), and when it occurs it’s most often green card holders who were mistakenly told they could vote (none of these people are undocumented).

Yep. They are likely to obtain convictions as well, but in the past these charges primarily result in small fines (and then almost certain deportation should ICE pursue it). Here's a representative sample of outcomes from previous federal prosecutions. The most common outcome is a sub-$500 fine.
A table showing name, immigration status, nationality, election(s), and notes.

Here are some examples in the chart:
- Rosemarie Angelika Harris, Lawful Permanent Resident, Germany, 2016, Pled guilty and was fined $75.
- Isac Dakuyo,	Lawful Permanent Resident,	Burkina Faso,	2016,	Charges dropped after completing a pretrial diversion program.
- Hyo Suk George	Lawful Permanent Resident	South Korea	2008, 2010, 2016	Registered to vote after a town council member suggested she do so. Pled guilty and was fined $100.
- Merious Jean	Lawful Permanent Resident	Haiti	2016 Pled guilty and was fined $125.
- Juan Francisco Landeros-Mireles	Lawful Permanent Resident	Mexico	2012, 2016	Sentence to 2 years probation and $1,200 fine
- Nebi Ademi	Lawful Permanent Resident	Macedonia	2016	Pled guilty and was fined $443.
- Jean Gobeil	Lawful Permanent Resident	Canada	2012	Given 90-day suspended sentence

BREAKING: The Trump administration is using a grant program from the 1980s to force cities around the US to funnel their ongoing collection of Flock, Axon, and other ALPR data into large federal surveillance centers that fall under the White House’s jurisdiction, 404 Media has learned

The program raises significant privacy and transparency concerns; as cities begin to place restrictions on how their Flock data can be used, it represents an end-around for federal law enforcement to access data that it might not normally be able to, and to do so without any obvious oversight body.

The White House has taken steps to ensure local ALPR systems are fed into the “High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area” (HIDTA) program. For example: cities in Georgia can't operate ALPR systems without signing a “memorandum of understanding” (MOU) in which they promise to send their data to a HIDTA.
