A spaceship landed in the park. A door dilated. An alien emerged with a chair, which they sat down on, backwards. "Look," they said, "we're not here, okay? You know why nobody contacts you? Because the write-up would be such a pain." They sighed. "Get your shit together, okay? We know you can."

Can you imagine the press reaction if Palestine Action were forcing Ambulance Stations to close? Or the Socialist Workers Party were shutting Fire Stations? No, of course not, cos it wouldn't fucking happen. These people are terrorists and should be treated as such. Ban, arrest, imprison.

As both an academic and a writer, I am repelled by the "this looks like a long document. Would you like me to summarize it for you?" that seems to appear at the top of every pdf viewer now. NO. The *entire point* of good writing (either books or journal papers) is that every sentence has a purpose.

You know, when you find out that the art you like is made by people you've learned hold views you find wholly repugnant, I don't think you need to disavow ever having enjoyed the art. It's okay to acknowledge you liked or loved that art, but are now putting it aside. That was then, this is now.

Oh yeah been there. Prejudiced jurors because the lad looked like a scally and "must have done something, even if he didn't do this" 🤦‍♀️ Had to really explain the notion that saying "not-guilty" isn't the same thing as saying "innocent" before they'd even start to look at the evidence.

I was a Sega kid so I missed out on a lot of this stuff the first time around. People say to play the original but I'm so used to modern features now like camera control etc that I'm more excited to play the remake - maybe that's because I don't have any nostalgia from playing the original though 🤔

Aside from the obvious stuff like just being lazy I genuinely think folks are trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility when there is fallout from whatever they do because it was the *computer's idea* and not theirs 🙄 aka the "just following orders" crowd.

I'd be sacked on the spot, and rightfully so, if the errors in my work were 1/10th of that. The dichotomy of people treating these things like a perfect divine entity while giving them so much leeway. Are people so keen on giving up their autonomy, or is it just responsibility they wish to avoid?

Good Mood
4-panel comic by War and Peas. Panel 1: A smiling man strolls into the office with a briefcase and calls out, "Morning, Barb!" Panel 2: A woman at her computer answers flatly, "Morning, Carl." Panel 3: She frowns and wonders to herself, "Why is he always in such a good mood?" Panel 4: The man walks off with a wide, blissful smile, thinking, "I hate it at home."

The image is of a four panel comic.
The title reads, "Suddenly Finding A New Obsession".
In the first panel we see Sarah, the protagonist, in front of her computer. She has a bored expression on her face.
In the second panel we zoom in on her face. She looks suddenly alert.
In the third panel we zoom in even closer on her face. Her eyes and mouth are wide open in intrigue.
In the fourth panel we zoom out and see Sarah in front of her computer again, but this time she is dressed in a frog costume, surrounded by frog toys, and has an "I heart frogs" poster behind her.

I always had to go with a 3rd party controller like Mad Catz because the earlier Sony controllers were just too dainty for me 😟 I have the same issue now with the Switch 1 & 2, the default controllers aren't an option for me so I always end up with extra 🎮 costs when a new system comes out.
