! While some jurnos are reporting Zelensky in 4th place in KIIS’s trust ratings -this is not new or news- that’s where he was! Real story? - Zaluzhnyi’s trust rating seems to have fallen from 73-66% - Budanov’s 70-61% Has Fedorov’s campaign hurt establishment Military figures?

Here is the full data report. According to KIIS, Zelensky was also in 4th place in June (before the personnel crisis). His trust rating is in some ways shockingly stable 61 to 58%. Margin of error in July = 3.5% June www.kiis.com.ua?lang=eng&cat... July www.kiis.com.ua?lang=eng&cat...

Fedorov’s (and his activist supporters’ which are overlapping but distinct) campaign thus seems not to have just hit Syrskyi - it actually may have reverberated across the military establishment. Why is this important? Well that for my private briefings. But it is.
131
Olga Onuch @oonuch.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
The framing used (more by Fedorov’s proxies) placed key establishment military as in conflict with civilian + democratic decision making + governing (a first at such scale since 2022). Personnel change was framed as military figure pressure to remove reforming civilian leader.
111
Olga Onuch @oonuch.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
This is important because Fedorov’s tactic of placing himself in direct conflict of establishment or “old school” or “Soviet trained” Syrskyi he actually may have (unitedly?) affected universal perceptions of Military leaders or diplomats/leaders coming from military leadership.
220
Olga Onuch @oonuch.bsky.social · 11/08/2026
This was my worry and what I was briefing on privately … as the events and pressers were unfolding in July. Fedorov’s rhetoric did not undermine Zelensky as much as it likely put a dent in armor of the seemingly Teflon perceptions of establishment Military figure perceptions.

I personally don’t use trust metrics (there are citizens who distrust yet approve of presidents & trust but don’t approve…I know 🤔) but in the absence of a new approval rating in Ukraine (ours coming in August) KIIS find that yes, trust in Zelenskyy declined in July but has not reached post 2022 low

An ability to caution about real decline in trust, whilst placing it into perspective. Providing analysis of specific constituencies who are understandably(!) discontented & highlight scandals whilst noting that average citizens don’t reflect on them in same way as activists.

This is not to say that replacement of Fedorov (after power struggle with Sirskyy) - was right or wrong. But suggesting that choice was made entirely because of a rapid rise of Fedorov in polls does not add up. As of July 2026 he is polling at 3/4% with no significant rise.

If anything - it is almost as if this scenario was designed to raise Fedorov's national profile + significance (notably also at the expense of Zaluzhnyi) We have our own poll in the field so interested to see how these numbers look like with our most trusted polling partner KIIS.

What folks who don’t understand Ukraine won’t grasp is that this will be yet an other moment whereby some who normally aren’t supporters of Zelensky will be proud of their President. Ukrainians, having been pushed and beaten down for so long, don’t react well to external berating.

& just like that, in the midst of a serious diplomatic misstep by Nawrocki, Zelensky returns the Order not by diplomatic pouch but by Nowa Poshta … just like millions of ordinary Ukrainians. Proving that although he is tired, imperfect, and makes mistakes, in many ways he is still just one of them.
