It seems fitting that my first full day on BlueSky is the Feast Day of Francis of Assisi. I'm looking forward to teaching this day as well, teaching feminist disability theory in the Middle Ages with Tory Pearman and Rosemary Garland-Thomson. Below, an early image of Francis from Subiaco.
And image of Saint Francis of Assisi done in muted browns. There is a light brown border around a darker brown background, which Francis breaks out of at the top. He's a young man in this image, bearded, with his usual brown tunic knotted with rope. He is holding his left hand to his body open pal to the tunic. His name FRĀNCISCU is on the right in two lines. The S is missing. Interestingly, this picture has been noted for demonstrating his tearing eye. Thanks to Meredith Bacola who pointed this out to me, and yes, it IS the image on the over of Augustine Thompson's bio of Francis.
