The 7th Oct was the biggest single-day massacre in the modern history of Palestine/Israel. It was followed by the most lethal campaign in the history of the country. In the last three years, Israel inflicted a 7 Oct on Gaza every three weeks on average (in absolute terms; more in relative terms).

My sister studied Zoology at Nottingham, but the music department was her real home where she was involved in many ensembles. It gave her an excellent grounding before she did postgrad performance at the Royal Northern. She's now principal bass with Royal Northern Sinfonia. Awful news. 1/

LGBTQ+ youth are hugely overrepresented in homeless populations cos their folks kick them out or chase them out. Where is the moral panic over that? Why do we, as a culture, place the blame for bad relationships on abused kids and not their abusers?

2yrs after I finished my MA History at Goldsmiths, my research rights were bought and I was hired to work as historical consultant on this TV show. It's had BAFTA and International Emmy nominations. I got a book deal, too. Goldsmiths: "No point in MA History, let's fire everyone and delete it."

That's an absurd overreaction to what is almost certainly accurate (at least as regards Prevent, and who would be offended by being called a seagull. They're very intelligent?). The language of 'civility' has been used to police critique here, too.

Last night, an exhibition I've been working on was launched at Cromford Mills in Derbyshire to mark 250 years since building of 2nd mill (blue print for cotton factories worldwide) and early industrial housing. It's open all weekend, with lots of activities. Critique my graphic design efforts!

And further to this, there are ways to be accompanied (not represented) even if they say no: - English not your first language? Bring an interpreter just in case. - Feeling very stressed? Bring someone to support your 'wellbeing'. - Declared disability? A reasonable adjustment can be a note taker.

Derecognising unions is an own-goal for university managers. The amount of work union committees & caseworkers do to make policies not just fair & equitable but fundamentally workable is astonishing. Without us there'll be more grievances, more long term sickness & more IA.
