Lichtenstein’s entire oeuvre was offensively shallow and profit-motivated from the jump. His original premise of recontextualizing “low art” was done better, earlier, and with way more joyful subversiveness by Marcel Duchamp, AND he lacked the skill to even render the work he supposedly “elevated.”

I know its his job to hype the product far beyond its practical use But i love the idea of tech giants hiring math illiterate engineers. A lot of software is held together on a house of cards, and they want an even shakier foundation

I drew a comic strip.
a comic strip. The first panel shows a goblin in a long coat approaching a guard. The second panel has the goblin saying "we're just normal men!". The third panel has the guard replying "what do you mean normal men?". The fourth panel shows both the goblin in the coat and the guard. The coat is beginning to open to show many goblins within. The guard looks suspicious and a goblin emerging from the coat is saying "We're just innocent men!"

I had this idea from reading the elizabeth holmes mouse post and then I couldn't do anything else until i painted the idea to completion
It is a cartoon mouse, like Jerry from Tom and Jerry, shaped like a wedge of cheese presumably because it has eaten a wedge of cheese. The mouse has Elizabeth Holmes' face. The mouse is saying "Why would I deceive you? There's no reason for me to do that."Nathan Fielder, looking into a fridge where the mouse has eaten a cheese, says skeptically "Okay. Alright."

dreamed I’d made a T-shirt which was getting great reviews from T-shirt critics and really ‘doing numbers’. People were saying it was a cultural touchstone, a commentary on the time we live in but I hadn’t actually seen it. The dream ended when I finally saw it and woke myself up laughing.

It's #drawaterriblecomicday so here's a terrible memory
A comic on a core memory where I'm at a microbrewery with my brother and his wife. A white dude busts in and says "I must be the luckiest gaijin in all Japan. Out to drinks with two beautiful Japanese women" (this was all said in English but gainjin). The women appear to be polite but disinterested coworkers of his. I turn to my brother and sister-in-law and say "we have to leave before he talks to us" with a worried look

I appreciate how on point Chiang has been about this from the start. When you hold onto the anchor that “A LLM is a piece of text generation software” you can stay very clear headed about what is actually going on when it operates.

A lot of this is people going “It’s impossible that a text prediction process can produce results *this* sophisticated” and while it’s very weird that I can upload a diagram to a text prediction system and it can accurately produce an interpretation of it, that seems to just be true! Pretty weird!
The neuroscientist Anil Seth has noted that no one claims that AlphaFold—the program developed by Google DeepMind to predict the folding of proteins—is conscious, even though its underlying architecture is in many ways similar to that of LLMs like ChatGPT and Claude. This indicates that it's not any intrinsic property of so-called neural networks that leads people to believe that LLMs are conscious; it's simply the fact that LLMs emit grammatical sentences and we are accustomed to reading intention into sentences, whereas we are not accustomed to reading intention into the way that amino acids fold into protein molecules.

Recent bakes and their components
Marble cake with swirls of blueberry curd. Its topped with swiss meringue buttercream and strawberries. It looks quaint and cloyingly sweet but it was actually more balanced than appearances suggest Macarons, dyed pale blue, nearly gray. For real, tho, i used half a bottle of natural-based food dye and got great. The fuck is this? This is a racket I am swapping back to petroleum-derived dyes fr fr

The macarons are cute thoswiss meringue before the butter is added blueberry curd before the fruit gets mashed and yolks are added. This is just in the pan waiting to sizzle, dusted in brown sugar

I like this article but its jarring how little they discuss cost. Jobs that pay enough to have children demand too much time to have them. I dont think norms and phone use play into this as much as we think. People & generations dont change so much as their systems, govs, and environments do

There is a base underpainting addedA travel palette and water brush were used to add more layers and color the plantsthe final layer added and the details pop thru. Yooooo! Anyone wanna celebrate my last grad school paper getting published? I drew the supplemental cover pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/... #scienceart #academicsky #neuroscience #chemistry
A digital journal cover. Title "ACS Chemical Neuroscience" with subtext "May 20, 2026, volume 17, Issue 10, pubs.acs.org/acschemneuro"

The image is an adrenal cell zoomed in with a complex interlocking system from the nucleus to cell membrane. Vesicles are forming and releasing chemical that gets captured on a graphene carbon net. A graph shows a mass spec graph for methionine enkephalin and suggests off line analysis. The lighting implies an ascension, like ethereal spirits were captured and studied. It still gives the implication of reverence, because these endogenous opioids are associated with euphoria.
