This was a polling site for the recent Brazilian elections, not a US election. In any event the thing to take away from it is that he was arrested and charged. Contrary to what he told police, there is in fact a law against this behavior.

Apparently this is actually a state law issue. In Massachusetts and likely Alabama they call buying sex “sex trafficking.” Absolutely ridiculous. They know this is not what people think when they hear that phrase.

Ok I just looked it up. According to Claude, federal law does require force, fraud, or coercion (except for wrt minors), but many state laws (including Massachusetts!) call the act of buying sex “trafficking.” That’s crazy.

When I hear “human trafficking,” I think it ought to indicate some sort of coercive act involving control of a person’s passport or control of a person through threat of violence seeking extractive labor in an indentured servitude type situation. But apparently to cops it just means “bought sex.”

I've been closely following it. And I support expanding rail transit. But what's actually feasible and on the table right now, for relief within the next five to ten years, is making the bus faster. I don't see why we can't do the bus lane now and fight for rail in the future.
