Immediately after Ukraine took out two of the five data centers run by the Russian tech giant Yandex, pro-Trump and pro-MAGA posts on American social media sites plummeted. The same happened to posts boosting Germany's far-right AfD. Russia is engaged in MASSIVE election interference.

This really matters in this era of attacks on science and expertise. I study breastfeeding, but have encountered many people who tell me that my PhD colleagues aren’t authorities because they’re “not doctors”—not realizing that pediatricians only get about 9 hours of training in lactation!

Japan 2026: Welcome to Nikko!
Nikko. This is why Anthony, Matt, & I traveled to Japan. A solid 2+ drive from Tokyo, this is where we’d be staying, and fishing, for the next four days. Our friend Hiro picked us up at our Tokyo hotel early Monday morning in his Toyota van. The plan was to drive up into Nikko, do some sightseeing in the morning, meet up with Hiro’s Nikko Tenkara partner Takashi Sakauchi in the afternoon, check into our hotel, and then have a “welcome” dinner that night ahead of our first day of fishing on Tuesday.
