Due to some wackiness in one of my group chats, I can now say that I enjoy numbers in roughly the following distribution: `\begin{aligned}\text{Enjoyed} = &\left\{\forall p^x \rightarrow \frac{1}{px} : \left(p, x \in \mathbb{N}\right) \land \left(p \ge 2\right) \land (\forall n \in \mathbb{N} […]

A long time ago, I read the #Firekeeper Saga for the first time. It touched me deeply & I still reread it pretty frequently. Unfortunately it has basically no online presence. To fix this, I've started firekeeper.wiki I'm proud of what's there so far. It's far from complete, but I'm […]

I probably won't be alive to see it, but I can't wait to see how they handle IP addresses if we were to add another world to the internet. Like, does Luna get its own IPv8 block by some future convention? The sheer quantity of lag demands being able to know where the address goes ~~geo-~~ […]

I love how on one group chat I am in, we reinvented a tone tag. /c means "contrarian" in this chat. Like "I am saying no just to say no, I don't actually mean it"

Currently helping an elderly family friend figure out if an email is a scam (which it obviously is) and hey, people who make mobile email apps, it's a dark pattern to not make the email address of the sender visible without needing to click on the little arrow thing. Just thought you should know.

Well damn, looks like Duolingo pulled the undocumented API I was using for time tracking. I don't know when I will have time to rewrite that. Ugh. Anyone aware of a library or guide or something? If not, I'll wait til other shit is solved.

Seeking feedback :boost: Is this a good way to notate levels of confidence for a series of #math articles? #writing #writingAdvice
A screenshot of test in dark mode. It has 3 highlighted blocks, each with a title and a different color/icon. The text says:

Conjecture 1.0.0

I will note conjectures like this. Each will come with an ID consisting of three parts: a series index, a definition index, and a count. As an example, if I were to make a conjecture about definition 2 in this post, I would write it as “Conjecture 1.2.1”, indicating it is in the first post, the second definition, and the first conjecture of that definition.

Theorem 1.0.0

Theorems will be identified like so, and given IDs similar to conjectures. I will always use theorem, even if lemma may be more appropriate, for the sake of consistency.

Hint

Possible leads to investigate will be marked as hints.

Good morning
Unattributed meme. A nine-square alignment chart, featuring signs.
Going left to right, and then top to bottom:
Done with this shit / I have questions : sign riveted into a tree in a forest reads "Your GPS is wrong turn around"

Done with this shit / Disturbingly specific: sign reads "128 persons have drowned in this lake. 2 wearing a life jacket. 126 not wearing a life jacket."

Done with this shit / Vivid: sign reads "Danger, not only will this kill you it will hurt the whole time you're dying"

Ominous / I have questions: sign reads, " if you can read this you're in range"

Ominous / Disturbingly specific: sign reads "Warning! Evacuate the island if you hear 8 short blasts"

Ominous / Vivid: sign showing a palm tree and three people being chased by flying black circles, reads "Beware falling coconuts"

Do not test the gods / I have questions: sign reads, "if elevator does not move do a small jump it should move after"

Do not test the gods / Disturbingly specific: sign reads "road may be subject to sudden catastrophic sinkhole collapse"

Do not test the gods / vivid: sign crushed by falling rock reads "Falling rock"

One of the ways that LLM-authored code improves productivity is by merely SAYING it does things. It's way faster than the whole time-consuming process of actually doing things. This is real code someone sent to me for review.
A screenshot of a code editor. The line numbers are in the lefthand column, running from 121 to 125. There is a comment that says "Verify packages were created and check sizes" Then line 123 says echo Verifying Lambda packages were created... and Line 124 says echo checkmark emoji colon All Lambda packages verified successfully. There is no line in here that actually did anything.

The most useful thing is probably the intra-day variance. Some of that is gonna be noise from the sensor, but with Rye there is enough data that it's meaningful. It's one of the ways we could see her stomach bug got better: less frequency and less variance
