Israel's biggest problem is its election system, which allows any nut into the Knesset and then makes those nuts indispensable to forming government. Too many people just accept that their system is democratic on faith; it's little shy of kakistratic. A threshold of 3.25% is a stupid threshold!

I still haven't found a use for generative AI, but the ability to summarise large clumps of data saves me hours every week. More of that, less generating text and filling Amazon with slop and deepfakes, please. It might help all you AI people make a profit before the end of the world, too.

The US can't retreat from the ICC; It's been hostile to it since Clinton told the Senate not to ratify. It joining the ICC in the first place would have required gutting its provisions. There was never a good faith moment in US interaction with the ICC. Trump is, as usual, just not pretending.

I'm aware that the icc people mean well, but I've said it before. Nothing has done international law more damage than the idea it needs teeth. The US, the only power even remotely threatened by it (Russia and China just laugh), was always going to go out of its way to destroy it.
