Hmm, I don't know if one could go mash a tin of chickpeas, add some sugar and rising agent and bake that. I seem to recall that's what they told me they did, but I may be misremembering. I'm somewhat curious to know how much processing is actually involved, but not enough to read recipes online.

I've had some seriously delicious gluten-free vegan chocolate cake that, if I understand correctly, was chickpea-based. But yeah, I'm also quite happy to eat my desserts and my hummus separately.

Hier in Australien bezahle ich für das einzige essbare Roggenbrot im nahen Supermärktchen übrigens auch umgerechnet ca. 6€. Es gibt da einen Puffer zwischen der Bäckerei die weiss wie Brot geht und dem Plastikzeug aus der Fabrik. In Papier und handwerklich anmutend, aber weitgehend ungeniessbar.
