Our 19th edition finishes today with one final slice of Spanish genre perversity: Bigas Luna's CANICHE (1979), 16h30 at Cinematek (zoophilia alert!); & our closing film, 18h30 at Cinema Nova: Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke's A USEFUL GHOST: delightful supernatural whimsy - with a devastating payoff.

THE FURIOUS! I wanted this for @offscreenff.bsky.social (though it's not strictly an Offscreen kind of film) but it wasn't to be. Kidnapped kid = that's the plot. Trailer makes it look brutal, but MVP is fight choreography which you don't see that much of here: INCREDIBLE. Best since THE RAID!

Fun fact: Nick Cravat, who played the "gremlin" on the wing of William Shatner's airplane in the 1963 Twilight Zone episode Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, worked for most of the 1930s in partnership with his childhood friend Burt Lancaster as a circus acrobat double-act called Lang and Cravat.
William Shatner panics at the sight of a (rather cuddly-looking tbh) gremlin on the wing of the aeroplane in which he is travelling; his wife (Christine White) slumbers peacefully alongside him.
