We stand in solidarity with @ilhanmn.bsky.social as the regime targets her just weeks before elections. Let us also continue to stand in solidarity with @replamonica.bsky.social who has been targeted by the regime since May 2025. There’s a reason the DOJ has been targeting Black women electeds.

actions were actually pretty similar to what many of the Allies were doing or had done in their various colonies around the world. There are enough similarities, especially with US culture, that it would raise questions that powerful people and their supporters don't want asked.

Most WW2 education doesn't really dig into the beliefs and policies of the Nazis beyond antisemitism, genocide, and war. I totally get why that's an important angle, but it means that a huge number of people don't know about the role of capitalism and capitalists, or the ways on which Germany's

All education must serve the interests of the ruling class. Philosophy, art, and other such things are for the rich, and those the rich choose to elevate.

I don't feel guilty about it (why would I?) but it does mean that if I care about justice, I should want it for everyone. And it's not like there's a lack of resources, it's just that our countries value other things more, like the whims of billionaires. Which is kinda how we got here too

It's deeply foolish to pretend there are no systemic or historical factors at work. Generational wealth makes a difference , for one very obvious example. My family has had centuries to build stability where most Black USians have had maybe two or three generations. That's not my "fault", and

In order for indigenous people to be treated equally, they must be brought up from the low level to which they have been forced Poverty is sticky, and if you force a group of people into it, they are likely to stay there without intervention of some kind, especially if there's a structural element.

It's very like how European aristocrats forced the peasantry off of the common lands that had been their right, so they had no choice but to work for a wage. And that unjust power inequality remains to this day.

Oceanoxia @oceanoxia.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Whether they fought amongst themselves is irrelevant to the crimes committed by the government. And yes, part of the injustice against indigenous people worldwide has been making nomadic lifestyles impossible - at gunpoint - without giving an alternative way to thrive.

For the US, there are fortunes and corporations built on slavery. Do they have a right to that wealth just because the people from whom it was stolen lacked the power to claim justice? If we're talking about kines, at what point are we just arguing that might makes right?

justice in Canada, for the abuse they received during the Canadian government's attempt to erase their culture. As I've said multiple times, this isn't the distant past, it's the present. And the need for justice doesn't go away just because the govts in question delayed it for long enough.

You seem to be pretending that those "past" crimes aren't still causing harm. That's simply false. worse, you seem to be pretending that the active oppression is from centuries ago, which is simply false. All of this is still a matter of living memory. There are adults currently fighting for

Be systemic, but that does involve helping individuals too. The precise details are going to vary depending on location and the exact history. If it makes you feel better, I want those of us with European heritage to have better treatment as well. This isn't "we have to suffer to make up for it".

How did they end up that way? Multiple disciplines show that there are generational effects from oppression, both biologically, and sociologically. In all the cases we've discussed, the state is responsible for both past crimes, and current conditions. The nature of reparations should probably

Put it another way: if a thief manages to get away with his crime until he dies, does that entitle his children to love off that stolen wealth while the children of his victim go without? And no, guilt isn't a factor. I care about justice for people currently alive.

Poverty is a policy choice. Keeping the victims of colonial violence in the conditions inflicted upon them by that violence is a continuation of it. Justice delayed is justice denied, and generally those who work tonl help evade justice are considered accessories to the crime in question.

Deprivation has always been a part of genocide, and the last is relevant. It's continuation of conditions and policy. Pulling a knife out partway, or even all the way, doesn't solve the problem.

Oceanoxia @oceanoxia.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
When you destroy a people's ability to support themselves and then force them into convenient corners of the land on the outskirts of society, you're not departing from the policies that led you there, just adjusting them.

Because no colonial empires are willing to actually pay reparations or grant sovereignty. They still have a habit of violating treaties and promises any time they conflict with the desires of corporations and their owners.

Forcing indigenous into the margins of society, where their death rate is much higher, where they're subject to police abuse, where they're subject to the hatred of society, is a continuation of genocidal policy, just masked a little to fool people like you.

Homelessness is extremely dangerous, especially in places with cold winters, and everybody knows that. Shelter is a major part of the hierarchy of the hierarchy of needs. And the term is "social murder" in which it is a policy choice to force people to live in lethal conditions without actual need.
