Where on Earth do you start? The leader of Deforrm, who accepted a £5 million pound donation to spend on Feraris; who works with Posh George; who inflicted Brexit on our country but blames everyone else for its failings, is setting up what he’s calling a people vs the establishment by-election.

Wow. Deform have announced their spokes-failures for some departments. At education and skills it’s the very sackable Suella Braverman.

I first read Pullman’s Northern Lights when I started teaching in 2001-02. Just finished the second trilogy after 25 years, in which time I read the first trilogy to our daughter & watched the BBC version with her. Not a sad ending, but sad the series has come to an end. He’s a phenomenal writer.

Can anyone tell me why journalists believe they have to say “accused of racism” in articles like this? Why does it seem it’s worse to directly call out racism than it is to be a racist? www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

It is utter bullshit that the mistaken splicing of two bits of his January 6th 2021 speech on Panorama in October 2024 had any significant impact whatsoever on the reputation of Donald Trump in Britain, or globally, and the claim for $1 billion damages is bullshit and bullying by the US president

Trump wants to destroy the BBC and take our money. And Nigel Farage is egging him on. All true patriots should tell them both: hands off our BBC.

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think. New piece from me. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

I hear there’s an argument going on in the UK right now about whether or not Donald Trump incited the crowds to violence around January 6th. Apparently the BBC in a documentary showed edits of his speech that misrepresented what he said.

If racism has no place in his party, then Nigel Farage should prove it by withdrawing the whip from Sarah Pochin immediately.

If you listen to lots of racist commentary, you can, fairly straightforwardly, start to use racist commentary when communicating yourself. This is racist. It is also ugly, but it is still racist.

Five little things I’m enjoying about being back in school again: 1 Planning lessons. 2 Seeing children motivated by learning. 3 Conversations with colleagues and the camaraderie of a department base. 4 Hearing, “Hi sir,” as you walk along a corridor. 5 Having a tutor group.

It turns out that teaching your own son is an interesting experience. Not a bad review: “I actually learned something and my friends thought you were nice.” I’ll take that at the end of week one. In other good news: neither of us died of embarrassment.

When you look across a school staffroom, there are all kinds of people who draw respect from the rest of the staff, no matter what subject they teach. @missdcox.bsky.social was someone who drew an enormous amount of respect from all around this staffroom. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
