Like, not only is AI slop now extremely common at vending events, the people selling it are extremely confident in the idea that they *deserve* your money for their slop because the actual contents of the images on the product are basically irrelevant.

There are collectors who legitimately love expanding and sharing their collections and I think that's fine, but that is the minority. I'd wager 50-75% of the "professional vendors" I've met are extremely toxic people who are constantly trying to trick or take advantage of everyone around them.

Because my dad has been into "asset speculation" since before I was born, I grew up going to lots of comic/collectable vending events and if I learned one thing it's that most of these vendors feel *extremely* entitled to making money on artists' work without compensating or crediting them.

So I now have a non-nsfw account: @lexthedog.bsky.social I'm going to be moving most of my posting there.

You can just do that. This comment doesn't make sense because you can just choose to do it. It's like when people say "back in the day I could just go to the mall with friends and we had a great time." You can still just do that, you're just choosing not to.

I seriously hate Komodo Station. They botched every release of hardware so far and I have no clue why Valve continues to partner with them as their exclusive Asian distributor.

Here in Korea we literally can't even join the wait-list. If I had to guess, it's because a "random draw" is seen as a form of gambling, maybe? Which is, of course, ridiculous, but also would not be surprising since any form of poker or even just the idea of poker chips are basically "gambling" here

There are things I still need to work on. I procrastinate too much and am very non-committal with personal projects, so I haven't really finished making a game since college, but that's not a big deal. I want to engage more in progressive politics, but it's tricky with my current employment.

Hardcore impressed, probably. Fully cut off from my narcissistic parents, moved to the other side of the world to teach game programming at a university before I even hit 30, finally comfortable engaging in the furry community, and my first long-term relationship is still going well.

You might see several artists mad about the bluesky policy update banning non-con, even artists who do not make that kind of material, and wonder why it's such a problem. If that's you, here is a quick breakdown: 🧵

I remember chatting with my non-furry progressive friend about it and he had the exact same reaction. Puritanical furries don't realize that most people don't see it as "it's all the same (bad)" but "it's all the same (I don't care)"

However you find yourself creating, remember that the act of creation is what makes you a "creative person." It doesn't matter what you make as long as you're the one making it.

In fact, it's pretty fun to watch *both* the original and the western adaptation to compare the two.

It's very eastern form of horror, but Ju-On (original version of "The Grudge"). My friend brought it and Pan's Labyrinth over for a movie night before I left the US and it was a very good watch!

If I see an AI-generated thumbnail, I don't click on the video. If I think I'm watching AI-generated content, I click/swipe away. If you're "creating" AI-generated content, I'm biased to think you're a lazy person looking for shortcuts with little creative ambition.

I have to vehemently disagree with this post I saw. I do not believe fascism is "part of human nature", it is an end-point of capitalism (and by extension, class-society as whole). It is not a natural phenomenon to who we are, it is a consequence of a system created and held by our ruling class. 🧵

I don't understand why someone would fight so hard to *only* use one OS because "1% of the things I do requires it" and not just use it 1% of the time for those things.

And if that's the case, there's nothing wrong with just using Windows for that one game. I know plenty of people who literally only have Windows or a Mac for one application (usually Maya, Photoshop, Logic Pro, or Final Cut).

You can also try something like Kubuntu as well. Linux Mint was good as the "beginner" distro, but at this most Debian derivatives aren't all that different and Linux Mint tends to get updated much less frequently.

Anyone who does care for those specific titles really should put some effort into complaining to the publishers and maybe even, I don't know, blame them for their bad decisions instead of blaming unrelated third parties who are doing everything in their power to offer support

Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Linux *isn't* the answer for everyone, but it's an option. People just complaining "why must Microsoft make my life worse" while accepting their changes and not even *considering* leaving is the problem.
140
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
The argument is for people to be aware of their options and take agency. If someone doesn't want to be fully vegan, but intentionally reduces their meat consumption, even by only 50%, it has practically 90% the effect.

Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Obvious question, but when you plug in the wireless USB dongle do you switch the device(s) from Bluetooth mode to "dongle" mode?
120
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
My main desire is for people to *consider* the alternatives available to them and take some amount of agency instead of just saying "life sucks, nothing to be done" and you've clearly done that.
080
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
That's likely because the Bluetooth drivers for your specific devices aren't built-in and need to be downloaded (part of the install process). What are the specific models of the devices that don't work?
260
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
What core programs do you use? Have you looked at alternatives? I'm not going to try to convince you of anything, I want to know what areas are lacking support.
110
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Most people I talk to who are considering Linux are apprehensive specifically because they're worried they will pick the "wrong one" and then be stuck forever or that they have to pick the "right one" on the first try.
110
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
That's very fair. I was more trying to say "you have the freedom to try as many options as you like and don't have to feel tied to any specific one."
110
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
IMO it's far more annoying to have someone saying "everyone should use MY distro because it's the one true distro." I'm trying to acknowledge the reality that everyone has different needs and there *are* many valid options to consider.
110
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
So what's the better alternative? "Use this distro because it's the one I like"? "Use this distro because it's generic"? Whatever I suggest is likely to be outdated in a few months, anyway. People should feel comfortable experimenting and finding what works best for them.

At the end of the day this is one of those situations where I'm going to say "look into it yourself" because this information changes over time and there are going to be hundreds of good guides and tutorials and FAQs already online.

In my experience, using multiple partitions on one drive is fine, but annoying, especially if you're not starting from scratch. 2 drives is definitely easier. The biggest issue I've had with Windows dual booting is that it messes with the clock in Linux, but that's fixable.
230
Lex @nsfwlex.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
At the same time, I think dual-booting (having 2 operating systems installed and picking the one to use when you turn your computer on) and only using Windows for the 1 or 2 programs you *need* it for is like 99.9% as good as ditching it entirely.

www.protondb.com is the go-to for this question. In my experience, basically the only games that don't work require "kernel level anti-cheat" which is practically malware (and I'm surprised more gamers aren't upset about it enough to boycott things)

One more note to tack on that unfortunately has to be said out loud: all genAI is genAI. Not "most of it" not "except this one field" not "except where it makes *your* life more convenient."

I have never and will never use AI. I am thankful I work a job where I am not forced to and likely would never be. If you are forced to use it for part of your job, you can always minimize it as much as possible. And if you started using it in your personal life, it is never too late to stop.
