I use rich for the first category and wealth for the second. Given the low savings rates in the US, 5 grand qualifies as rich when viewed nationally. A million seconds is 12 days, a billion seconds is 32 years, a trillion seconds is 32,000 years. People get lost in orders of magnitude.

Watching ‘The Tiger Rising,’ it brings back memories of my grandfather reading ‘Marco and the Tiger’ as the rain came down on the metal roof of their cabin. He’d do all the voices … and once timed part of the reading to the sound of a lighting and thunder squall to part of the book … simpler times …

All the ad breaks on every tv channel really annoy me. I don’t have an attention deficit disorder. I have a traumatic brain injury. Interruptions in a storyline can set me back hours. Could part of the US’ attention deficit be attributed to the number and length of time ad breaks consume?

Just a polite reminder: Economy ≠ stock markets. Economies are complex, inclusive and based on multiple metrics. Stock markets are controlled by the ultra wealthy who have successfully convinced a vast number of poorer people to invest in theoretical things that may or may not pay out.

I’ve watched a couple of ‘Ghost Hunters’ episodes. Zak gave me a great idea from one of his constant references. Instead of saying ‘American,’ when referencing a white dude who was born in this country or to American parent(s) abroad, we should shift our language to ‘white immigrant Americans.’
