I have my visa interview on Oct 7th! Do you know how much it has cost me, including the A1 language cert? €340. If hubby came to the UK on a spouse visa, the cost would be a little over £5k. The initial visa fee in Germany €75, in Uk £2k

So fun fact, today is alarm system testing in Germany. Phones get a message in German and English, but my phone on silent (millennial) made no noise. You know what makes a noise? The huge alarms at gov buildings that can be heard for miles. Hidden phones stay safe, everyone knows what is happening.

I have a german tax code! Also, because the universe is the universe within 4 days of arriving our landlord let us know we had 3 months to move as her son was coming back to the area. Am I sad to be leaving this old beautiful house? Yeah. But we signed for a new place yesterday in a beautiful town

I passed my A1 with 80%! Things are moving slowly, but the paperwork is all in. Mother-in-law brought 3kg of home-grown tomatoes, and Lidls has in the only decent English cheddar I have ever found in Germany. The sun is shining. Only missing Clacton beach a little.

In German visa stuff, you have to put your eye colour. Do you know which eye colour German official paperwork doesn't recognise? Hazel. Guess which eye colour I have? So the last 30 minutes have been spent trying to work out if I have green/brown or brown/green eyes

Lidl stores in Germany, since I was last here, have upgraded all their trolleys to have a phone holder. As someone who messages her shopping list to herself, I can not love this anymore. Will SO many people leave their phone in the trolley by mistake? 100%

Last night we had a lightning storm go directly over head. I always forget just how different inland lightning is compared to when I was in Clacton. Lightening generally stays out at sea, especially with the wind farms. Goodness me it was loud and bright last night.

I've known there are rats living in the scrub that is an important part of the prom along Clacton beach. There are even rumours of a few snakes in there too. I had honestly never seen one in summer months. This heat or the ridiculousness of tomorrows by-election has brought a few out.
