Incredible reporting by @tinavasquez.bsky.social here. A story about how the people who put food on American tables are denied water or even the ability to carry it with them or meaningfully ask for it to be provided, lest they lose their jobs working in oppressive heat.

Should be applied to any story about JD Vance. Just like the quote from a NYTimes interview years back in which Trump said he gives his net worth as whatever he feels like in the moment should always be kept in mind. These people have no meaningful relationship with truth or facts.

With great consistency, people who prefer authoritarianism to democracy envision themselves in charge. Could be them personally, could be vicarious, but they're always the boot, not the face. It's basically a way to say everyone should shut up and accept that we're doing my preferences, not theirs.

Aside from the obvious unfairness of people getting rich off of uncompensated stealing of creative works, we should think really hard about what it means that the people who keep winning economic jackboxes to become oligarch-rich are the ones who are willing to cheat and break the law

Exactly this. And in fact, many models *have* been created this way, and decades of prior machine learning systems *were* created this way, consensually. These things are choices! People are STILL working this way! It’s not just that a better world is possible — it already EXISTS. We can nurture it.

If they get both chambers Dems could pass several simple one-page bills with ultra-popular stuff like raising the minimum wage. No lobbyist BS, no games with amendments, something a middle school social studies class can understand and dare the Rs to veto.

Something to be said here for sending bills over without formal White House negotiations or meeting with them and flipping them off with no compromises. Really reassert Congressional authority. Part of the “work with Trump” rhetoric is just reflexive negotiation processes.

These ads go in the same category as brazen, easily disproven lies after ICE killings. It’s not about persuasion. It’s a display of power. They could have passed them off as PAC-funded. They added “paid for by the U.S. government” because they want us to know they can break the law with impunity.
