For the ones who did make it, I rarely hear, "I'm glad i waited until my 30s". It's almost consistently, "I wish I had the vocabulary for this when I was 10." These kids have that vocabulary but not the access. That's objectively cruel no matter how you frame it.

People need to realize that the New York Times is going to pivot to "self-ID" now, essentially to build up the next fight, a total end of all legal recognition for transgender people. A handful of states have already started passing these laws, and it is absolutely what they are going for next.

Reading the Supreme Court decision, I think back to what I wrote with sociologist Blu Buchanan. Attacks on gender-affirming care are fundamentally rooted in white supremacy. Attacks on trans people are part of a broad-ranging agenda of reconfiguring society to better serve white supremacy.
