My final thoughts on the Resident Evil movie!

Resident Evil is probably the bar by which all video game adaptation movies should be judged.

Very frequently, these sorts of movies will be accused of not respecting the source material. But Resident Evil not only respects it, but REALLY gets in there to use what makes the games tick to make a fantastic movie.
An example from really early on, so no spoilers.
Main character Bryan uses a trick that many veterans of the games will know. Angling a shotgun up high and firing at the last second will blast a zombie's head clean off, preventing them from ever reviving. Not only is that NOT the case in this movie, but it's used to establish the main "Villain" monster as being EXTREMELY difficult to kill.

It's also used for some fun levity and tension building, as the protagonist becomes increasingly frustrated with Raccoon City's apparent fixation on themed padlocks, but doesn't have time to go hunting for the Diamond Key as monsters are baring down on him.

I genuinely cannot think of any complaints I have about this movie. If you're a Resi fan I would absolutely recommend this, and if you're not, then you're still in for a fantastic visceral horror experience.
