The "Zionism is racism" motion, to be debated at the Green Party conference tomorrow, will not advance the Palestinian cause one inch. But, if adopted, it would marginalise and discredit the party. There are powerful ways to confront the genocide. Toxic gesture politics isn't one of them.

Data centre construction has been persistently higher in the US than in China no matter which way you look at it. The idea China is scrambling to "beat" the US is just silly. They're just opting out of the anxious, frantic, panic-building frenzy.
Per-capita data‑centre electricity consumption, 2020–2026: US (green) rises sharply from about 500 to about 1000 gigawatt‑hours per million people, while China (purple) remains much lower and slowly increases from roughly 50 to 150.US data‑center electricity share climbs from about 4% in 2020 to roughly 6.5% in 2025, while China’s share rises from around 1% to about 2%, shown as two colored lines comparing data‑centre percent of grid total from 2020–2025.Line chart comparing data‑centre electricity consumption in China (purple) and the US (green) from 2020–2025 in terawatt‑hours per year, showing both rising while the US remains higher and accelerates sharply after 2024.
