The Sudanese Armed Forces launched a large-scale multi-axis offensive Saturday aimed at reopening the El-Obeid–Dilling road in North Kordofan -– one of the war’s most contested logistical corridors. It has triggered some of the deadliest fighting in recent months, according to Sudan War Monitor’s geolocated analysis.

SAF and allied former Darfur rebel Joint Forces advanced from El-Obeid southward through Kazgil and Hamadi toward the RSF stronghold of El-Debeibat before apparently withdrawing.
Control of Hamadi remained unconfirmed as of Sunday.

A senior Joint Force commander, Major-General Hussein Abdulrahman, was killed in the fighting, a significant loss that may have contributed to the retreat, according to the report.

All three sides – the SAF, the Joint Force, and the RSF – claimed victory. The RSF also claimed over 500 enemy fighters killed and 85 vehicles seized.

Repeated SAF attempts to reopen the El-Obeid–Dilling road have failed, with RSF ambushes, mines, and entrenched positions, particularly around El-Debeibat, preventing any sustained advance.
