The term "pioneers" -- I wouldn't have blinked at it as a kid, but now I automatically replace it with "colonialist squatters."

Why choose the bear? With the bear, if you play dead, it eventually leaves you alone. With a man, if you play dead, he says you’re up for grabs.

I'm tired of being sick and useless. I read books, but I can't romanticize. I spend most of my time trying to stay out of the ER and hospital. I can't avoid the bewildering pain and dysfunction.

Just read about how for most of history there was no sex education. So many women were taken advantage of and never had orgasms. I myself didn't learn the words "clitoris" or "orgasm" until much too late. I didn't get vibrators until long after my pelvic floor was beyond repair of physical therapy.

When I wasn't safe, I wanted to defend myself. Now that I'm safe, I defend myself although what I really want is to be comfortable, to write from that place of safety.

"The sad thing was in knowing that all their nerve would get them nowhere in the world and that they were as all people seem lost when the day is nearly over and even though the sun is still bright, it is thin and doesn't give you any warmth when it shines on you." - Smith, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

At night, in conversations and in the manuscript, I write again about the ocean of forgetting, then I remember Maria Stepanova. “The past rewilds itself, oblivion springs up out of it like a forest.”

Advocating FOR teen pregnancy is another example of how their claims about wanting to protect girls are all lies. It's part of the war on the independence of women: pregnant teens are much less likely to finish highschool, with lifelong increases in poverty & limitations on employment options.

Did you know? In the Victorian era, male medical students tried to stop women from taking an anatomy examination by pelting them with garbage, and barricading the entrance. The women were members of what became known as the Edinburgh Seven. #Victorian #history
It shows the Edinburgh Seven trying to gain entrance into their examination hall.

Abdul El-Sayed on capitalism: “I’m capitalist who just knows about capitalism. I have a bad habit of reading, I’m so sorry.”
We’ve spoken about capitalism versus socialism.

Do you want to talk about capitalism? Let’s talk about capitalism. Are you recording? Capitalism is about leveraging the laws of supply and demand to efficiently allocate capital expenditure to maximize value. When capitalism works, it’s because you have free entry and exit into markets. So if you believe in capitalism, you have to believe in government regulation to protect markets. In fact, right now, we have exactly the opposite. You don’t have to be a socialist to believe that you should be taxing billionaires their wealth. In fact, if you are a capitalist, you should believe in that. So, I’m capitalist who just knows about capitalism. I have a bad habit of reading, I’m so sorry.
