Marking assignments on political communication in the news. Lots arguing that people need to think critically about how political issues are communicated while they uncritically go and use press releases from political parties, lobby groups and government departments as examples of journalism.

Now that the electric is going again I have my next project getting the fretless treatment - an Ibanez V50NJP. Got it for $60 at the tip-shop. I haven't done a steel string acoustic before, if it turns out well it will go up for sale this time.

So it's back and assembled. I had some issues fitting things but it's 99.95% straight and true, plays well, holds its tuning and I'm am generally just stoked to have it usable again.

Quite a bit of progress today - trimmed the fret plugs and gave it an initial sand to start the shaping. Noticed a nick in the middle of the fingerboard (around where I like to play) so did a little patch job (hope it works). Currently clamped. Next is a stain and then hardening the board.

So the work has begun, removed the frets on the replacement neck yesterday (only a few nicks off the board). Today was playing with wood glue and packing the slots with veneer. Of course I had to sand each of the veneer pieces down by 1/10 of a millimeter to get them to fit, annoying & fiddly work.
