It's #LitHodgepodge 1 and I reckon I'll have to participate because hodgepodge is quite exactly what I write, I guess? It's everything, I have short stories, fantasy, science fiction, thriller and horror, I have poems and nonfiction, I even have some romance, of a sort, and it's confused and messy.

"You can't stop progress!" Well yeah maybe but that's because the stuff that got stopped just isn't called progress.

There might be completely unproblematic reasons for this to happen, but I always get a little sad whenever I get an email from a woman using her husband's email account to send it. And it happens quite a lot.

A black and white comic page: Melody, a young woman, sits alone on a train looking out of the window with a forlorn expression on her face. she holds her phone in her hand but taps her thumb against it restlessly. with a slight tremble in her hands, she picks up her phone and types into Google, "what to do when your partner is mad at you." She reads the contradictory advice with a doubtful expression before giving up and putting her phone face down on the train seat table.

a piece like this seems quite base on its surface. Its simplicity and wide appeal might lead one to consider this to be "low art." But looking deeper, one sees that despite the work's... what I'll call, "pseudo-corpo-digital" aesthetic, the idea it's presenting is one that cuts to the very core of our humanity. That no matter who we are or what we've done, love is an inherent right that no sin can strip away."

Melody glares at him in stunned disbelief. The painting is five simple words on a black canvas: you deserve to be loved.

Zachary concludes, "I won't deny I find some comfort in even as simple a message as this."

I find myself avoiding (ostensibly) small(er) business products more and more because so many of them have these weird Shark Tank aesthetics with names and logos that appear so unlikeable and sometimes they even have their founders somewhere in business clothes looking all businesspunky and so ew

Fabian @nocheinautor.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Oh I have to answer that because that's kind of what "A Huge Amount Of Money - A Lovestory" is about? Tanja and Konrad, different as they may be in other ways, have almost identical answers to that: They see themselves ... almost realistically in that they realise their role in this soicety is not

Did you also learn in school that carnivores are "nature's health police" because they kill the sick and weak prey animals? Yeah I wonder what that says about the frame of thought this idea comes from. Probably nothing problematic in there, just caring for a healthy population, right? /s

This is a bit weird because I honestly can't say, but I somehow want to say that? I mostly write stuff I haven't yet read about right now. I could name a few writers who have been influential, but I somehow don't want to do that. So. Just note my refusal to give a useful answer, I guess.

I have heard lots of people talk about how unimaginably bad German titles for foreign media are, but I have never ever heard anyone address the reasons for this. Surely someone most know this? There have to be some people who work in media and have some insight in this weird process? No?

I can't articulate entirely why stuff like Skullduggery Pleasant or Dresden Files makes me so angry, but luckily, I don't want to anyway.

"Hart verdient! Deine Arbeit. Deine Gesundheit. Deine Rente." ist das Motto der heutigen DGB-Demonstrationen und mehr muss man über den DGB auch nicht wissen.

Once we're done with the whole nazi thing, we should go after the people who send emails with 17 ~attachments~ which then turn out to be only some kinds of logos they have in their signature.

#AwesomeCharacters asks who among my characters can take a punch and I'll exclude all superhuman / supernatural characters because obvious, so while Ossip might be strictly a bit better at this, Tanja is a cop, so punch away. 🥇

I have something for this #TBBPompt, and it's even from an officially published novel of mine. Translated from German. #WritingPrompt #Writing #AmWriting

He didn’t want the children to hear. Even though he knew, of course, that one shouldn’t hide one’s grief; that mourning was a perfectly natural reaction to losing a loved one, and that family members could help each other process a loss better if they were open about it. This was advice he gave often enough himself, and advice he believed in wholeheartedly. Besides, he knew they could probably hear him anyway.
His gaze fell on the wedding ring on his finger. The steel wedding ring, adorned with the face of a big cat featuring flashing blue glass eyes. The ring from a flea market in Maine, bought for the outrageously high price of five dollars. Hers had featured a tiny spider with a body of black stone and legs that gleamed like silver. He didn’t know whether her ring had been destroyed in the accident or simply lost.
It felt unreal how it was all over forever—how a person could simply cease to exist. That was what made it so painful. The way he kept forgetting, only to realize all over again what had happened. What the rest of his life would look like now: without Diane.
He ran a hand over his wet face and bit down on his fingers as his whole body shook. He didn’t want the children to hear.

Every single time someone asks for insults that are not reinforcing fascist ideas by punching down, the replies are full of people suggesting insults that are either really bad or punching down or (most of them) both. Maybe the idea of insulting people is just not good in itself?

#AwesomeCharacters asks for our not so awesome characters and you might think that in a story with a cop as a character, it could only be the cop and you wouldn't be particularly wrong (She gets punched several times, don't worry), but I have someone else who's even less likeable.

I looked at my new Rado Captain Cook – my parents had given it to me as a gift for my Abitur and I was incredibly proud of it at the time. Fascinating how people change, isn't it? Today, I would be ashamed to walk around with something like that. Team Patek Philippe toujours, comprends?

honestly i think the impact of 9/11 on Arab and Muslim populations in the US and abroad should take priority in discussions and I don't think that should be controversial because the twin towers aren't still vulnerable and Arabs and Muslims are, and as long as the US exists they will be!!

Comfort your 8ft Energyvore Berserker girlfriend <3 Page 1 of 3 #samus #metroid #metroidravenous

Comic Page 1 of 3

In this Comic, Samus Aran is in a sort of Berserker rage and gets comforted by her polycule. Which she has, because I say so <3

Samus walked in with heavy footsteps, covered in green blood, steaming, panting.
She sounded like a wounded tiger breathing heavily with adrenaline fueled unceasing rage.

Lyra, Vega and Trix swarmed her immediately. Each one attempting to make themselves useful, trying to prop her up or comfort her in some way. Lyra stepped in front of her and carefully touched her chest. Samus was dripping blood while she loomed over her.

"Hey!"

she said gently

"calm..."

Samus was shaking but her breathing was becoming more regular, more human.

"Breathe!"

Samus dropped to her knees with a loud clang. Even now she was still a good foot taller than all the girls if she hadn't been hunching with her head hanging towards the floor.

"good!"

Lyra carefully removed her helmet and placed her hands of Samus's cheeks. She was still panting, mouth agape with blazing red eyes shining through her matted dripping bangs.
Lyra wiped blood off her cheek before resting her finger on her lips. She tucked carefully revealing her sharp fangs.

Samus's eyes lit up. It was a mix of sudden shock at the comfort and shame.

Vega stepped closer to her and placed her hands around her head, kissing he forehead.

"good girl."
