Been keeping up with a daily drawing challenge the month of October. #sketchtober

Day 1: Fungi
A knight with a mushroom cap hat raises his torch and peers around in a forest of giant mushrooms.

Day 2: Wind (fantasy)
A lady testing her flying wings is blown violently of-course as the decorative face in the corner of the border blows out a puff of wind.

Day 3: Elixer (spooky)
A witch wearing protective glasses pulls a red skull potion out of a cauldron like a blacksmith pulls iron out of a crucible.

A list of drawing prompts for the month of October.

There will be TWO elections this October, and we hope transit riders vote in both of them! It can be confusing to figure out which level of government is responsible for what (especially when candidates make promises they can’t follow through on).

Finally sharing this sweater I finished knitting in the spring, details in the alt text. 🧶 If I were to knit a sweater with similar construction again I'd skip the shoulder short rows as they add a lump when the sleeve sits so far down off the shoulder. 📷 @noah-the-bard.bsky.social

The knitting pattern is the Johanne Loops Sweater by Other Loops. I knit it with Alpaca from Kensington Prairie Farm.

Version 0.2 of Book 1 (of 4) of the #TTRPG ruleset has been printed!

A rough printout of 40 pages printed double-sided with massive margins. The topmost page bears the hand-written title "Fantasic Adventures (Name Pending)" (typos included), and a table of contents.

Organizational hack: 1. Go to a camera store and ask for "gaffers tape"; it's easy to tear by hand, not too sticky, and doesn't leave residue when removed. 2. Go to an art store and buy a white POSCA pen (+any other color you want). They're expensive outside of Japan but worth it. 3. Label away!

Trying trying trying to get better at this RPG art stuff

In a crowded notebook, the sections separated by gold borders, a circular centerpiece is subdivided into 5 equal slices of amateurish art:
1) a dark figure in a cloak holds readies their dagger.
2) an archer intently pulls back an arrow on his bow.
3) a lizard-folk poses in regal attire, some ominous painting behind their shoulder.
4) the tiny silhouette of a witch raising a triangular ornament towards a massive, smiling sun.
5) a weary barbarian rests in a chair with his longsword.

We turn a new leaf! The core rules for the RPG I'm designing are now ON PAPER for the very first time! #RPG #TTRPG

A stack of 20 sheets of paper, printed double-sided but each page has only a 5.5×8" half-page worth of content and thicc margins so I can make notes for changes.

The topmost page on the stack bears the title "Noah's Fantastic Adventure Mechanics", which is a placeholder name since I haven't yet settled on a final one.

Mythbusters, but it's people who try out the shenanigans that players try to convince you they could do. "I could totally throw a rope up to a third story window if I had a rock tied to it!" "I could make a torch out of a rag and a stick on the ground, no problem"

Was awesome seeing so many women with visibly important jobs during the Artemis II landing yesterday. It's that sort of visibility which inspires today's children to go into STEM fields when they grow up, and I think the whole world will benefit from STEM being less male-dominated.

The way SD cards fail is…gross.
Anyone that does heavy photography or video work knows they’ll gradually get slow; often without outright failing.
I blame the SD association. The storage controller isn't required to report *any* health information to the host!

Sound sources I had prepared for running last night's D&D session: - mandolin (necessary) - African djembe - medieval sounds synthesizer - little brass bells - modular synth program (controlled by wireless keyboard) - Spotify - D&D ambient sounds app - gavel ... folks, have I gone too far?

A mandolin (Seagull A8, made in Canada) has become my primary music source when running D&D.

The djembe (made in Mali) is great for scaring players.

A Teenage Engineering EP-1320 "Instrumentalis Electronicum" medieval synthesizer (made in Spain)

Just a lotta buttons and Latin, big learning curve on this thing.

VCV Rack, a free modular synth program that's great for dreamy soundscapes.

Last month I did my first test knit, The Cluaran Sock pattern by Grey Owl Knits. They fit really nicely and I think this is my new favorite heel type. 🧶🧦💜🌿 #testknit #knitsocks #knitsky

A flat lay arrangement of my hand knit socks on a wooden table. The socks are dark brown with purple and green accents, and thistle flower motifs. Around them are knitting needles, the remaining balls of yarn, the knit swatch, and two purple hyacinth flowers. (They were the closest thing to a purple thistle I could find at this time of year)

Yarn used: PIP Naturals and Colorwork by Baa Ram Ewe.
