Day 1: Fungi

I'd hit 'em with the classics: - Pregen lvl 1 character sheets - "You meet in a tavern" - Blacksmith storms in, his daughter's been kidnapped by goblins. - Fast-forward to the dungeon entrance, narrated as being good survival/navigation skills. - 1 token trap - Goblins defeated in 3 turns. - LOOT!

Now that I'm touching on drawing techniques learned in a 3D drafting course, I'm reminded of the other excellent way to draw 3D objects: orthographic projection! Depending on the map, you could simply supplement your tried-and-true top view with a simple side view cutout to give a sense of height.

It definitely takes some time to get used to, but once you wrap your head around it, an isometric grid becomes a fantastic shorthand for 3D space. If you want to practice, I'd recommend starting by printing out some isometric graph paper then drawing some dungeons made out of perfect 5x5x5ft cubes.

No experience with whiteboard combat, but have you tried drawing isometric maps? Alternatively, for some tiered maps I've just drawn the floor plans separately (especially when there's overhangs) Or, if it's just a ledge, I'll sometimes portray it as a 1-square gap between the bottom and top.

That's a fair point, though it presupposes that standard IT datacenters are functionally similar to AI datacenters wrt regional impact. I won't pretend to be an expert on the matter, but I'm skeptical given AI's extreme needs in other aspects of computation. arxiv.org/html/2509.07...

I really like this approach! The other piece of advice I've been weighing making a blog post about is just to have smaller pantheons. I think deities can become one-dimensional when they get pigeonholed, but it's a lot harder to pigeonhole when there's ≤7 relevant deities in the entire setting.

... when a player has the potential to complete a big gig, but only if they gamble their few remaining capacity to go one step further and risk burning out instead. I think that could be quite an immersive experience if done well, as it puts the player right in their character's shoes.

Yeah, just like that! I don't think a subsystem like this necessarily needs to be fun, so long as it can be *compelling* while underpinning the other funner parts. Cyberpunk is great because it balances awesome aesthetics against a dreadful hyper-capitalist reality. (1/3)

Neat idea! What if you were to flip it around and instead have a value for "energy" (alternatively; hope, motivation, focus, spirit, or capacity) that gets worn down by stressors. When it gets brought down to zero, your character becomes listless and needs to rest/indulge to recover.

Organizational hack: 1. Go to a camera store and ask for "gaffers tape"; it's easy to tear by hand, not too sticky, and doesn't leave residue when removed. 2. Go to an art store and buy a white POSCA pen (+any other color you want). They're expensive outside of Japan but worth it. 3. Label away!

Good perseverance! As someone who's spent quite a while trying to learn Japanese on Duolingo, I can say it's... not great. I still keep the streak because it's good to interact with the language daily, but any time someone says they're learning a new language, I recommend they try Busuu instead.

Yeahhh, if they're projects for which I'm actually interested in the updates, I think 2 or 3 is the maximum. Anything more than that doesn't have any increased excitement, and I'd probably be happier buying less products at full price.
