I cant say much, as i have little experience with these feelings and in academia, but the last thing id say of you is that you are a sloppy and poor researcher. The only other thing i can say is that you should pursue what you enjoy at the moment, i wish you all the luck!

Vanda is a legend in Croatia, if I remember my micropaleontology well, a species of foraminifera is named after her. Also, I wonder how much further would the science in general advance if women were allowed into academia earlier than they have (especially considering the fate of Ma and many others)

So far this year we've had: the warmest winter on record in the mountain west, a record-shattering heat wave in Europe, once in a thousand year rainfall and flooding texas and forest fire smoke blanketing the mid west and the north east. Feels like something's going on with the climate!

Some thoughts relating to the gradual but very apparent normalisation of genAI image use in the public display sector:

An unfortunate reality for those of us creating art for the public display sector is that third parties hired by the same clients we initially produced the art for may run our work through some level of genAI slop machine, even if we try everything in our power to prevent it.

I have friends that this has happened to in circumstances that were completely beyond their control, yet have still received the brunt of the response, with the actual guilty parties remaining anonymous, and the lack of due diligence on the client's part remaining uncriticised.

So, given I'm stepping further into the public display sector, I want to make something very clear now:

If you ever see my work modified by genAI or mixed up alongside it, I was not the party who used it, I did not approve it, and if in my power, I will certainly fight against it.

By who? Who shot the person dead? You saw the video. We all know a federal agent shot a man dead who was prone on the ground. Also, it's not "according to officials." It's according to verified video seen with your eyes. Not saying what anyone can obviously see with their eyes is a form of lying.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque: "This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Bronze plaque saying "A Letter to the Future. Ok is the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status as a glacier. In the next 200 years all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path.
