It's #WorldHumanistDay! So if you're wondering what it's all about – today's a great day to find out more. humanists.uk/humanism
What is humanism?

Humanism is a non-religious approach to life, centred on living a meaningful, ethical life based on reason and compassion.

1

Humanists see the universe as a natural phenomenon with no supernatural side, and look to science to answer questions about the natural world.

2

Humanists believe this life is the only life we have, so they focus on living well in the here and now, guided by empathy and our shared humanity.

Juneteenth is a reminder that liberation will always demand more of allyship than posting a black square on social media. The humanist movement has long centered whiteness while calling itself universal. That's not a bug we're still working out; it's a pattern we have to actively dismantle.

How do humanists find meaning in life? Humanists believe that life's meaning is not given to us, but that human beings can create meaning and happiness themselves. Humanists find purpose in relationships, creativity, helping others, and making a positive impact on the world around us. Each person's path is different. Humanists support everyone#s right to think for themselves and shape their own life.

How do humanists tell right from wrong? Humanists believe morality comes from our shared human needs and our ability to understand consequences of our actions. Humanists maintain that people don't need to believe in gods to tell right from wrong. Humanists maintain that people don't need to believe in gods to tell right from wrong. Humanists try to reduce harm and increase well-being, treating others as we'd like to be treated. This is sometimes referred to as 'the golden rule'.
