Last year, I would get super-annoyed that I’d clean the library tables, and then a class would come in and there’d be writing & pen/cil marks all over the tables again. This year, I put down some bulletin board paper, and got a bunch of “tablecloth clips” to hold it down. 1/

Just added Poetry for Neanderthals to our library game collection. Was asked to play with some boys during lunch... 1. They said, "WOW! Ms. Smith is really smart!" 2. "We didn't get to hit you ONCE!" Note: There is an inflatable club that says, "NO!" on if for rules violations. 🤣

The amounts of money and time wasted on services, programs, and technologies that do nothing to help students learn and that steal resources & time from Ts is astounding. And the easy, cheap answer - school libraries - is completely underappreciated. We have the data! SLs improve EVERYTHING.

Yes, reading and literacy rates are dropping. But the fault here isn't with kids but adults and the mess we've made of our education system. We aren't supporting kids. We can keep printing op-eds whining about college students who can't read a full book, or we can fix an education system we broke.

OK - so we have studies showing that for every $1 invested in public libraries, the community ends up with benefits worth $3-$6. Now I need someone to do that study for #SchoolLibraries. 'Cause the return on investment for a strong #SchoolLibrary program is definitely similar. #TLSky #EduSky
