Wonderful @openuni-rfp.bsky.social conference. Well-deserved award to @nj13.bsky.social for her incredible work. Delighted to meet @amdassu.bsky.social and @robbiddulph.bsky.social who were both incredibly inspiring as were the workshops.

One of our parents at school has loaned me this by Jenny Pearson and I can't put it down. Great storytelling and I love the characters. Going to order some for school for our Year 6 to support WW2 topic learning📚

Finished The Countdown Killer at the wekend and cross at myself for reading it so fast! Perfectly tying up threads from the series... it probably says something about me when out of *everything* that happens it was the funeral in Chapter 79 that was the hardest to read. @samhollandbooks.bsky.social

Never have I done a re-read of a series but I am loving revisiting this in preparation for The Countdown Killer being released next week. I am on the lookout for details I missed knowing what I know! @samhollandbooks.bsky.social

C says she is ready to shine like Tokyo again. Said she couldn't believe she'd seen @shedsevenofficial.bsky.social in December and now ready to burn this disco down again today. Lucky you I said @lightningseeds.bsky.social Excited for them both to see Paul Heaton too. Nothing like live music🥰

First day of half term holidays and although I made it, I have spent the day napping on the sofa and trying not to cough up a lung. Finished this though. So powerful and unforgettable. I don't know why it has taken me so long to bring it from my TBR pile. 📚

Also happy new vinyl weekend to me. Sunshine, music and pottering about with the kids=perfect.

Sometimes you just need to be back with old friends. Felt like this weekend was the right time to read this and be back with Max, Harbinder but especially Ruth and Nelson @ellygriffiths @ellygriffiths.bsky.social

Some lovely book selections out for our Social Reading session this morning. One girl asked me if she could read Illuminature as she walked in the door before she had even seen the other selection and she loves choosing friends to explore it with her. #readingforpleasure

This only arrived on Thursday's release day and I promised myself I would savour it. But I just couldn't. No spoilers but it was so worth me not being able to put it down and now being sad that I am at the end. Love @janecasey.bsky.social characters so much!! And now what to read?!

NicholaJ @nj13.bsky.social · 02/04/2025

How do I know I am on Easter holiday? Starting my 2nd @janecasey.bsky.social book of the week. Can't get enough of Maeve and Josh and some murders!

I have read this as J is reading it as Book of the Month at sch and we are doing it together. Michael Morpurgo never fails in his storytelling to capture emotions and those emotions spill out of my eyes. A beautiful, beautiful story.

Not sure playing this is leading to a chill Sunday before back to school and work. There have been tears and an alliance formed. Turns out that a cute Grogu theme does not mean less Monopoly drama!

I have just finished this and loved being back in Lake Pristine. This gorgeous story seems effortless...just pure joy to be with the characters that I was effortlessly all in with from Chapter 1. An addictive read that had my heart! In my head Jonah is Miles Teller in Footloose😊

As usual in half term I had a massive list of jobs and DIY I wanted to do. My brain meant I couldn't stop til done. Now I am having some time alternating between the new @mglnrd.bsky.social which I told my class I would have finished and the new YA from @ellemcnicoll.bsky.social . Lucky, lucky me!📚

Loved seeing @jennymclachlan.bsky.social today and everytime we see her there's something new we find out. J and C are arguing over who is reading Dragon Riders of Roar first. Luckily I have already read it on NetGalley or we would all be arguing🤭 @waterstoneskids.bsky.social

Thank you to the lovely @fleurhitchcock.bsky.social for taking time to speak with C about inspiring her to write. The session was sold out but we managed to get a book signed😍 @waterstoneskids.bsky.social

A poignant and heartfelt rhyming story about grief and loss, I think this book has broken me today😢 A beautiful accompaniment to Hare Shaped Hole by John Dougherty and Thomas Docherty and a must have for helping children deal with loss and building empathy. Thanks NetGalley for the preview, out May

Love the fact my first conversation this morning was with a boy who had received The Lost Sunlion for his birthday. We had read The Last Firefox as a class reader and he had borrowed bk 2 from me. He wanted to know if he could use it as his reading book-of course!! @klnewberybooks.bsky.social

Finished it and reviewed on NetGalley. Thank you @natalisimmonds.bsky.social ...an absolute page turner of a psychological thriller where I was desperate to find out what was happening to poor sleep deprived Lu! And the twist👌 Just as good as her other books...you are in for a ride!

NicholaJ @nj13.bsky.social · 02/01/2025

Thought I would have a quiet coffee, relax and start the new thriller by @natalisimmonds.bsky.social while kids still asleep. I am only on Chapter 3 and I have got flashback anxiety and rage....the sleepless nights, the playgroups, the expected roles!! Hooked!

Really pleased with this year's results. Target was 100 and it is normally two thirds "children's" books and one third adult books. Let's go 2025!📚

NicholaJ @nj13.bsky.social · 01/01/2025

Finished this book today so that counts as my 1st book read for 2025! I disliked Avery with a passion. I am not dead inside but it is fantastic characerisation by Shari Lapena . Small town paranoia and mistrust as people's secrets are uncovered. Loved it!

The latest DCI Fawley book was brilliant! Great to have the team back but bringing back what happened in Close To Home?! Really clever @carahunterbooks.bsky.social. Love being part of the emails and evidence trail as the case unfolds. I feel like I need my own detective title when I am reading😄

Thanks and a big Happy Christmas to Harper Fiction who have made my year with 2 early reads from 2 of my favourite authors. First Karin Slaughter and now @carahunterbooks.bsky.social I don't require any further presents!! 📚🎄

NicholaJ @nj13.bsky.social · 24/12/2024

When I received this email from Harper Fiction saying I could do an early read of the new thriller by Karin Slaughter, I was over the moon. I have whizzed through it. Small town America, race against time to find abducted girls. Great to know there's a new series to love. @karinslaughter.com
