We could exercise our statutory authority to preempt aldermanic prerogative and home rule authority to create BRT on Western Avenue, but we wouldn't want to deprive Chicago urbanists of the opportunity to grovel in a nonbinding popularity contest.

I forced the disclosure of this via FOIA to learn that CDOT is planning to install just 18.6 miles of bike lanes in 2026. 64% of such is paint only. Its most unproductive year since they started publishign info in 2021. www.chicago.gov/city/en/site...
