I’ve spent the past few weeks playing GBA Fire Emblems and DS Phoenix Wright games because 00s era portable gaming was peak.

Something I always found interesting about Ocarina of Time is that seemingly every young woman has the hots for Link at some point during the game, and I gotta believe someone on that dev team was a fan of Tenchi Muyo

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

I have a little notebook I use for Dragon Quest Japanese practice. I translate the menus and items and then work on handwriting. I wish I could say that some of it is starting to stick, but I'm having a hard time learning the characters...

It’s been 8 years since @kotowari.bsky.social posted this tweet and forever changed the trajectory of my life (and no, I’m not exaggerating).

Tweet from Roy Blakely (aka @Kotowari) saying “happy spooky october! here is my new fav music video by a korean girl band with a nod zombie apocalypse going on”. Included is a YouTube link to the Twice music video for Like Ooh Ahh.

I’m definitely a fan on the new WaniKani dashboard. It’s nice to be able to customize something you use every day (and several times each day), especially after a couple years of using it.

There is no wrong way to study Japanese as long as you're still motivated and learning. Sure, studying for an hour+ a day might mean you learn faster, but if you don't have the time/energy/focus for that, then 10 minutes is better than nothing.

Look what they did to Notepad. Shut the fuck up. This is Notepad. You are not welcome here. Oh yeah "Let me use Copilot for Notepad". "I'm going to sign into my account for Notepad". What the fuck are you talking about. It's Notepad.

Windows Notepad, the native simple text editor, now has formatting options and a Copilot button.

Years ago, I had a pretty sizable English manga collection, but during my late 20s, I gradually sold off most of it. Now I’m slowly building a new one, but this time it’s all in Japanese 😅

sometimes japanese sentences are actually just three paragraphs worth of information and you have to play tetris with them to turn it into something that isn't the worst run-on sentence ever in English
