I'm still alive! Got a lot going on offline, but I won't forget to touch grass and chase spiders along the way! Here, a missing sector spider (Zygiella x-notata). The additional image shows the web and pretty much explains how the spider got its common name. #SpiderSky #inverts #spiders 🌿🕷️

One of my favorite finds last week in Nebraska was this Bassaniana sp. crab spider. It was maybe 1/3 inch, and extremely well camouflaged on a tree. It's a new-to-me genus. I love finding cryptic creatures; it always feels like solving a puzzle to spot one of nature's "where's-Waldos." 🐙🌿 #BugSky
A macro photo vertical orientation, of a crab spider facing head-down on lichen-covered tree bark. The spider is dark brown and is well camouflaged as a bit of bark even though the lichens are mostly different shades of green.

A recent encounter I forgot to post! What I assume to be 'Agelena labyrinthica' with breakfast. She presented herself quite nicely on top of her webbing (possibly enjoying the sunshine). #SpiderSky #Spiders #Nature #inverts 🪲🌿
Image shows the frontal/dorsal view of a spider that is commonly refered to as 'labyrinth spider'.Same spider. This time a more lateral view. One can notice a tiny insect - possibly a fly - that the spider seems to be holding with its fangs.

Husband came up to me and told me (proudly) that he had relocated a jumping spider that was crawling up his arm onto one of my houseplants (Rhaphidophora tetrasperma). I love this man with all my heart 🥹❤️ The spider appears to be a male marpissa muscosa. #SpiderSky #Spiders #Inverts 🪴🕷️🪲

A few days ago I was waiting by the door for the husband to come up the stairs. Whilst leaning with my head agsinst the door, something tickled my ear... Assumed Cheiracanthium sp. (possibly C. mildei), now safely removed from the door. #SpiderSky #Spiders #TickleMonster #inverts 🌿🪲🖤
As we both got startled the spider hid behind the door seal strip. Only four of its eight legs visible.A frontal view of the spider. Clear your mind for moment and understand this. We are altering the very #climate of the planet in a way that's dangerous for our own survival and the stability of our ecosystems. With only a few exceptions, our politicians are not only looking the other way but actively making the problem worse.

This goes to show that plants adapt to their environment. Here, Philodendron atabapoense. The plant on the right is 𝙖 𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 of the left one. Why is the left one so tiny? Because I forgot of its existence 😅 Provided some (emotional) support sticks. Updates will follow. #houseplants #plants
The picture shows two houseplants. Both are the same species (Philodendron atabapoense). Yet, one plant is significantly smaller than the other: The leaves are smaller, have a brighter green and the overall height is smaller, while the other plant (which is a cutting from the prior mentioned one) is taller, has significantly larger and darker leaves and a firm build. The main difference in care: The cutting got (a) regular watering, (b) a support stick and (c) a place on a shelf with a grow light. The image shows the smaller plant. Now, with its own (emotional) support sticks.
