I'm trying to find a list of the reprinted common and uncommon cards that appear in packs of Mystery Booster Commander with the The List symbol, i.e. NOT the cards that appear here: scryfall.com/sets/mbc?as=... Does that list exist anywhere?

I was up late one night and realized we didn't have any, so I just started mashing chickpeas. I really didn't know what I was doing—we didn't even have any tahini—but I threw a little bit of water and a bunch of spices in and it was still pretty darn good.

@wotcmatt.bsky.social I know this isn't your job anymore, but I don't know whose it is—I'd appreciate if you would pass it along. In the CR, the glossary entry for Endure links to 702.62, which is Suspend. Endure is 701.63.

While I appreciate Chance Garfo's integrity, I think they should double-check the fine print of the monarch mechanic. The next player in turn order becomes the monarch only if the active player is the monarch when they leave the game.

It's that time of year again: nominations for Judge Foundry Board of Directors and Regional Advocate positions are open. apps.magicjudges.org/forum/topic/... Just about everyone has something they'd like to see Judge Foundry do differently. This is a great time to push for the changes you want.

When there's an announcement and you, a baby judge, jump on it with "This is stupid and I hate it," you're going to look pretty foolish when more experienced judges respond, "No, this is good actually." You've got to display some discernment. Or at least wait ten minutes.

Some stuff is bungled, to be sure. Sometimes big things are bungled. But at no time is every output from Wizards going to be bad, and if it seems to me like you have the attitude that every action Wizards takes is to the detriment of the game, I'm just not going to take you seriously.

120

Dennis Bradford @nikmn.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

But Wizards is not a monolithic corporate robot. It's made up of a bunch of different people, nearly all of whom care about Magic deeply. The things that "Wizards does" come from all sorts of different departments and levels of management.

Dennis Bradford @nikmn.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

2) Social media amplifies discontent. I think new judges join online judge spaces, see the multitude of jokes and complaints about Wizards (and yes, there are lots of very valid things to complain about when it comes to how Wizards does things), and latch onto that behavior as a way to fit in.

110

Dennis Bradford @nikmn.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

1) Magic is a big game and that inevitably leads to some unintuitive corner cases. Magic players/judges often pride themselves on knowing those weird rulings, and so when Wizards takes the time to clean up the rules, there can be a feeling that something has been taken away.

Dennis Bradford @nikmn.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

With both the errata to Tolabow and the slight change to mana abilities, I saw some newer judges jumping at the chance to complain about Wizards' decisions. Of course people are entitled to their opinions, but I think the knee-jerk reflex to criticize any change Wizards makes comes from two sources:

The only timeline worth seeing on social media is a chronological one of just the people you follow. Don't let algorithms determine what you see and what opinions and media gets promoted. Follow some homies and look at their beautiful curated posts. You'll be happier. Also your feed isn't infinite.

Just because someone's actions are motivated by good intentions and/or genuine beliefs doesn't mean that we have to tolerate those actions when they are detrimental to the event and/or other players' experience. Rituals and superstitions can be fine, but not ones that use up other players' time.

Dennis Bradford @nikmn.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

I find it's only played in decks that can recur it, and that's almost always a miserable time.

The community is still small, and WoTC keeps printing so many new cards, that the territories of potential new brews/archetypes/strategies are growing faster than we can build them. IMO the format is just as unexplored as when it was created, if not more so.

110

Dennis Bradford @nikmn.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

So here's the thing about Artisan Commander—when the format was young, there was a lot of unexplored deckbuilding space. I naturally thought that as the format matured, the viable decks would get mapped out and it would get harder to build an original deck. That hasn't really happened.

Today is a momentous day for the workers of Arena! After months of planning, waiting and organizing, our dream is finally a reality; the votes have been counted, and our union of UWOTC-CWA has been officially elected. From this day forward, we have a union!

Hey... WOTC? Hasbro? It's really fucked up that you made the trans members of the Arena team use their deadnames in order to vote in the union election. It seems vindictive, and cruel.

Not only this, but I hope that the next program also recognizes judges who de-certified before and during the Judge Academy years. We've lost so many experienced judges since 2019. I still struggle to grasp the scale of that lost institutional knowledge.
