I have a selection of DMs that covers every occasion I care to contemplate. I also have a wife and a daughter and seem to need to acquire an additional shoe rack every six months. Sometimes I envy women’s range of non-boring clothes, but am far too old and fat to carry off transvestism these days.

Weird good? M&S used to make (or maybe still make) bacon and maple syrup crisps, that were utterly grim. I’m generally not a fan of sweet crisps (except sweet chilli, occasionally), so my own stupid fault for buying them. Not a mistake I made twice.

The undies thing is a good point. I guess it depends on the type of garment. Most of my white clothes are t-shirts and, not being a bra-wearer, nothing dark interferes with them. I have a pair of white jeans and a couple of pairs of white shorts, but all are thick enough not to matter what’s under.

I also do this. My other laundry hack (which might be a bit obvious) is that any clothes that are even partially white can be washed with whites, as if their colours were going to run, they’d do so into their own white bits. (I take no responsibility for any accidental dyeing.)

Just remembered it was my first PSB album too, albeit taped off a mate (who turned out to be a right cunt, but that’s another story), rather than bought*. *I’ve made up for it since by buying all their albums at least once, mostly twice, often three or four times, and I think five for Nonetheless.

It's #NationalTeletextDay once again, so it's time to do my duty (or should it be duvet)

Later, when my mum was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s, I don’t think there was any question of telling her that her brother had died. To be honest I’m not sure she even knew she had a brother by that point. There’s no one-size fit’s all “correct” approach in cases like these.

I’m so sorry. It’s a difficult and horrible situation to navigate. We (various bits of my family) deliberately decided not to tell my grandma that her son (my uncle) had died, in order to avoid this very situation of repeatedly upsetting her, as her short term memory was failing.
