One metal magazine of the 90s actually coined the phrase "Hetfield Effect" to describe the tendency of rockers to switch from "anti-war / anti-establishment" to "patriotic / conservative" pretty much the second they passed draft age

Not Twitter, but a long time ago posted video of Chic at Womad on Facebook. I sent a friend request to Nile Rodgers so I could tag him in the vid (as you do), he accepted, I tagged him. Then other members of Chic friended *me* and then tagged *themselves* in the video 😂

There's a scene in an early episode of Star Trek TNG where Riker hands a tablet to a crew member and says "Take this to engineering", and I have to wonder why there isn't just a button on the screen that lets him transfer the data direct to engineering

This is a truly grotesque "trial" of a vaccine known to be safe and effective. It will in practice randomly withhold that treatment from a percentage of children to see what happens. It is absolutely the reverse of good practice.

Just saw someone say that if Starmer was still PM, Labour would have lost this by-election and while I don’t doubt the analysis of his personal popularity, I do feel like they’ve misunderstood the conditions necessary for a by-election to be held in his former seat.

Long tribute from Kemi Badenoch in her conference speech to Jeffrey Archer, complete with round of applause. The world is a "less colourful" place without him, she says, which is one way to describe a serial fraudster, fantasist and liar who wrecked several lives in the process.
