In this online workshop, Sütterlin specialist Carolin Sommer shines a light on the mysterious Sutterlin writing script. We uncover why it was introduced, why it was abandoned, and why it appears so hieroglyphic even when written in a neat hand. Catch up now:

Any 47 Commando specialists here? Or people with records from their period in Normandy? Currently looking into their actions at Port-en-Bessin, and could use some original records. www.47commando.org.uk is great, but I'd like to go back to the original records and build my understanding from there

Random request: Does anyone have a flak map or unit dispositions for Walcheren in late 1944? Trying to figure out how Marineflak Unit 810 were situated.

Looking for intel from the 50th Infantry Division (and attached formatios) for its first week in Normandy. Trying to figure out which German forces they encountered/identified. And yes, this is related to Defending Normany Vol.2 😉 Any help very much appreciated!

I know many of you haven't even gotten your copy of #defendingnormandy Vol.1B yet, but since plenty of people are already asking about Vol.2, here's a preview of what will probably be in it 😎

Yeah, wrote more new text for Vol.2 of #defendingnormandy today than I have done in total for Vol.1A and 1B over the last three years! So much more fun than endless editing. 😎 Still feeling a bit rusty though, but that was far worse some hours ago. 😀

So. Let's talk about everyone's favourite #WW2 author Paul Schmidt. 'Paul who?' you say? Well you probably know him better as Paul Carell, renowned writer of WW2 histories from a German perspective. 'So what about him?' Well glad you ask. Where to start? Oh, how about his NSDAP membership, 1931?
