Bloodsport : after Helen of Troy at Theatre Royal Stratford East is a cracking new play from Ava Pickett. Amazing dialogue and some sharp intakes of breath at the twists in the final scene. Recommended.

Loved @donmarwarehouse.bsky.social A Month in the Country, largely because casting very fine comedy actors (Mark Haddon, Alistair Petrie and Daniel Rigby) lightens the whole play. Great fun.

Very sorry to hear the Gate Theatre will close. Great little theatre above the Prince Albert pub in Notting Hill, moved to Camden to sort out access issues. Arts Council pulled 100% of their grant at the same time giving them little chance to build an audience at their new home.

Electra / Persona with the starry Hoss / Blanchett coin toss casting. Great performances although some distracting creative choices detract. Making women wear high heels and walk down a steep staircase over discarded clothes is a metaphor I can do without.
