RE: mathstodon.xyz/@stecks/117365373644… Ah, this is so cool!! Last year when I was making my kid's birthday spaceship I had to learn the ins and outs of ellipse math to get the pieces to fit together. This would have been extremely useful at that time!!!

Mustered the energy to walk the dog and was treated to the bike-chain sound of katydids! Spotted one taking off and followed it for a picture.

A green Katyid on a tree trunk lit by camera flash.

My brother @cerhendriks showed us the Tolkien exhibit at the Stratford museum. It was great, but the chrome mannequin wearing the Gandalf outfit immediately conjured to mind this excellent meme.

A dummy wearing a gandalf costume. The face is just chrome.

A three panel meme made from screenshots from the Lord of the rings.
Panel 1 shows gandalf standing outside a hobbit hole door with a caption " no thank you. We don't want any more visitors, well-wishers, or distant relations."
Panel 2 shows gandalf's face except it's been replaced with Macho Man Randy Savage's face with a caption saying "What about the cream of the crop?" He's holding a little creamer.
Panel 3 shows Bilbo stepping out the door with the caption"Macho-Mandalf!"

Did a drawing of a cleric for a social event at work. Man, it took a while to shake the rust off. I had to call it quits before I could fix a lot of the stuff I'd have liked to polish up. I need to draw more often.

An illustration of a slightly feminine figure from the waist up wearing a chainmail coif and a hooded cowl. She is holding a book with a sun motif in one hand, and a torch aloft in the other. Her eyes are closed and she is speaking, perhaps chanting or reciting something. The light from the torch illuminates her face.

Five years ago we were fortunate enough to be able to buy a home with a friend. This spring he let us know that he was ready to go his own way (amicably), so we had to quickly figure out if we could afford to buy out his half. It's been a heckin' stressful summer, but today we closed the sale!

Researching for #fluxgate, tonight I watched Forbidden Planet! What a wild movie for the time. I'm not sure why the poster features Robby carrying Altaira. As far as I recall that never happened in the film. Just an homage to other classic pulp planetary romance I guess.

Some stuff I doodled for an abandoned project. It was gonna be a jungle post apocalypse. I lifted Ogremen from here for my #allout apocalypse game, though I changed them a fair bit.

A giant cyclops with a huge head and a loincloth, labeled "Ogremen". Stands twice the height of a nearby human figure.

A doodle labeled "ruined portal" which depicts a damaged mechanical postal with half-circles suspended from the ceiling and attached to the floor. Bushes have grown nearby. A small flame or something hovers in the air amid the ruins

Some kind of feathery, flower-like creature that stands on two legs and is labeled "outer ones"

Going through an old sketchbook and posting some stuff I don't think I ever posted before.

A pencil drawing of a medieval fantasy peasant house with smoke billowing from the chimney

Some kind of French goblin, maybe? A small black toque and a striped shirt. He looks smug.

A really rough sketch of a bugbear with a club. It's just kinda standing there.

TTRPG mechanic: When you roll up your character you get a d4, d6, d10, and d12. You assign one each to your hit die, your melee weapons, your ranged weapons, and your spell casting and you're stuck with that for the rest of the game. Levelling just unlocks new ways to use those dice.
