It was either A WALK or REFLECTIONS for that tile. Went with the one few remember. Always happy to remind everyone of the existence of MYRA BRECKENRIDGE.

That and paranoid conspiracies, trying to divine a closed order of things, a unified field theory that will fit and explain everything. Even James hated it and brought it to an abrupt close. I just think it's quite brilliant.

My only experience with Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath, is my idea of a slogan, and Ford's film improves immeasurably on it.

Paul Vecchiali's ROSA LA ROSE, FILLE PUBLIQUE is one of those works that make you go: "that, too, is possible." You can plop 30s melodrama and Gallic theatricality 50 years later and have it still work and vibrate.

Top of charts discourse. The song about Texas is terrible but people have been doing mash-ups to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre's ending on TikTok so who knows if it is good or bad.

It basically boils to having to do a school assignment on the book and do a presentation on the film, choosing a possibly more tasteful scene for it, preparing it nicely as a budding cinephile would. Then learning some guy just showed the gruesome ending as a "pretty sick, uh?" kind of thing...

Yes but I think a double bill with Depardon's placidly procedural reportage, 1972, about the rise and election of the first French TV candidate would be interesting. For one, old Raymond got the story contemporaneously. And the film was banned by its subject for 30 years.
