🚢 Gokbey, an old defunct ship, spotted by citizens while being illegally dismantled on the beach (!!!) in Demircili Bay, Izmir, Turkey - a popular residential and recreational area. It is important to note that #Aliaga, where Turkish #shipbreaking yards are located, is located in the same region.

🚢 🚨Our 2025 data is out! 85% of the global tonnage last year was broken down on three beaches in South Asia. 321 vessels were dismantled globally, 214 ended up in Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. 11 workers lost their lives, with at least another 62 workers injured due to unsafe working practices.
