By joining our co-op, you become a part of a greater community of music journalists and workers, dedicated to covering the issues important to *you*. www.newfeeling.ca#/portal
Graphic with a bright blue grid background and colourful decorative shapes. Large text at the top reads “MEMBERSHIP ALSO MEANS…” Below are three cream-coloured text boxes. The first says “BEING A PART OF A COMMUNITY.” It explains that New Feeling regularly co-presents events across the country, hosts virtual reading groups, and partners with likeminded organizations. The second says “KEEPING CULTURE DOCUMENTED.” It explains that Canada is full of people making incredible music, but fewer outlets have the resources to properly cover them, ending with “We can’t let arts journalism disappear.” The third says “GETTING THE STORIES IMPORTANT TO YOU.” It explains that New Feeling publishes what matters to readers and members rather than what an algorithm recommends, and that member support allows the publication to take deep dives into areas overlooked by other publications.

New Feeling is a worker-and-reader-owned cooperative committed to paying writers fairly, covering overlooked artists and communities, and giving readers a real stake in the publication they support. www.newfeeling.ca#/portal
Graphic with a bright blue grid background and colourful decorative shapes. Large text at the top reads “WHY BECOME A MEMBER?” Below are two cream-coloured text boxes. The first says “FUND REAL JOURNALISM.” Its text explains that financial support goes directly to the people doing the work, keeping New Feeling’s cooperative alternative to corporate-owned media ad-free. The second says “YOU BECOME A CO-OWNER.” Its text explains that membership means having a stake in the co-op’s direction, with clear ways to be heard and shape priorities.

Collecting selected writing from 2020–2025, this anthology brings together five years of our music journalism at New Feeling Co-op: pieces we’ve published, shared, and kept coming back to, all gathered together in print. Every piece has been given a new visual life by designer Omama Mahmood.
Editorial page introducing New Feeling’s origins as a co-operative music publication. Large stylized text reads “intro” and “auction,” alongside the question: “What if there was a way to harness the community and solidarity of the co-op model to pilot a fresh new take on music journalism?” The page credits words by Tabassum Siddiqui and continues in two columns of body text.Graphic page featuring a large black rectangle filled with bold white text: “Greater efforts must be made to ensure a healthy and accessible musical culture that does not have to rely on big industry to exist, in the face of growing societal pressures.” Above it, smaller text discusses problems with the live music industry’s reliance on alcohol-industry funding, accompanied by scattered X marks.Minimalist article page about Cindy Lee’s album Diamond Jubilee. A grainy, halftone image of a seated figure is overlaid with large serif text reading, “There is a spectre haunting Cindy Lee.” Below, body text describes the album as “bound up with the past” and discusses Cindy Lee’s songwriting and sound.Editorial page combining handwritten and typeset text. Large handwritten text reads: “In function, ‘DIY’ and ‘indie’ often serve to fetishize the individual, virtually erasing entire networks of support and care.” Below, body text discusses marginalized contributors being written out of music history, followed by the handwritten question, “How do we flip that?”
